These gelatin-sized papers are 50 percent cotton, and resistant to fading. The paper is dual-surfaced: one side with a heavy texture and the other with a lighter texture. Mi-Teintes is a light-fast paper that is colored at the pulp level. This pad is made with 12 x 16 inch 98 pound/160 gram paper.

I’ve always loved this paper, I’ve used it for years and the quality is consistent, it has a good tooth for grabbing color and is strong enough to allow building up of color and shadow. Graphite, colored pencil, and pastel, not suitable for pen and ink.

Here in the picture above a I used a variety of soft pastels, and this paper is a great surface all together. It reminds me a bit of construction paper, but sturdier and with a really nice texture. Love it.

I’ve used Carson Mi Tientes for many years. I would advise trying both the smoothest & bumpy sides to see what effect you want to achieve. With the bumpy side, it takes a lot of pastel to fill in the low spots if you want a smoother surface. It provides a different effect which can be interesting. The smooth surface uses less pastel. Both sides offer opportunities for shading & combined coloration. Great value for someone who paints a lot.

The pastel paper was beautiful and it has a really nice tooth to it. I used it for a chalk pastel piece and it did wonderfully. I’ve used this brand before, but with the smaller size years ago. Our local art supply store went out of business and I’ve had a very difficult time getting my regular pastel paper and usually I like to look at the paper I’m buying. This is a great alternative that I might have to continue if Michael’s doesn’t get their act together.

This paper indicates it is for pastel painting. It is grained no sand based paper. It isOK for quick pastel sketches, but is better used for charcoal and graphite sketches.

These earth tones are beautiful. I bought this paper mostly to do portrait of people people of African descent and some other dark people. I have other papers and colors for painting people of European descent. Since I don't need a lot of layers to do human portraits, this paper will do. It is actually a very good paper that is not sanded.

Les papiers Canson Mi-Teintes ont déjà bonne réputation pour le type de travaux pour lesquels ils ont été conçus. La tablette que j'ai commandée était conforme aux produits Canson qu'on trouve dans les magasins de matériel d'artistes. Elle m'est arrivée en bon état et rapidement, voilà l'important.

the paper works well when using soft or chalk pastel. the same for pastel pencils or crayon and oil pastel.
