About Us
Every legend has a birth place. Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro, Lucano Italy. Although his home was picturesque, he was craving something more. After training as a cobbler in Italy, he immigrated to the United States. At just 17 years old, Salvatore Capezio opened a small shoe repair shop only a few pirouettes away from New York’s old Metropolitan Opera House. The sign above his door read, “The Theatrical & Historical Shoemaker.” He began his business by repairing theatrical shoes for the Met. Salvatore quickly made the transition from cobbler to shoemaker when he made an emergency pair of shoes for Polish opera star, Jean de Reszke. He discovered pointe shoes to be a challenging balance between delicate construction and complex engineering. In turn, his customers discovered that few shoemakers were as determined as Capezio to take on that challenge.

I have no complaints. I knew it was going to be on the big side particulary because my daughter is petite and isn't quite five yet. However I was quite pleased with the stretch of the material. The wrap/tie of the top made it easy to accommodate it to her size. Other than slightly long arms (which for her size was anticipated) the top looks pleasing to the eye. The tie can be pulled and tied close got the body which leaves no loose areas to fly during dancing. The "tie" ties in the back either in a bow or knot. Rolling the sleeves will expose hands or you can leave unrolled if too long and can be pushed up without being too cumbersome or an eye sore.

Thick material. Bit stretchy. Size is quite large, but oh well. Good quality. Seemed a bit overpriced but everything is these days.

I was worried about sizing from what other comments I have read. I ordered a size 4-6, small and it’s a little big in the arm length but it’s super soft. She can still wear it comfortably and have room to grow. She is four years old and wears 5/6 in toddlers. I hope this helps! I don’t write a lot of reviews but felt this would be helpful because I wasn’t 100% sure when I purchased. Can’t wait for her to wear to ballet! It’s always better to buy short sleeve leotards with something like this so it can be removed once she starts dancing. If it also helps, my daughter is roughly 39 lbs.

Great for staying warm during winter dance class. My 5 year old loves it and she can wear her short sleeve leotards in the colder weather. It ties in the back and stays secure during the whole class.

Cute and well made. Shipped quickly. Runs quite large (6yo swimming in a sz S) and NOT ballet pink. I specifically ordered all Capezio (tights, shoes, leotard, wrap and skirt totaling $90) to match head to toe. We now have a skirt/wrap in bubble gum and the rest in classic ballet pink.

Soft cover for winter wear during dance class. Not too warm for Arizona cold. Just right. The toddler size is a good fit for my 3 year old granddaughter just a roll of the sleeves. She will be able to wear this for a while. Easy to tie.

My daughter is often cold in the studio, so this worked well for her. It’s a jersey-type fabric (not a knit). The sizing is a bit big - she’s usually a 7/8 (M) but the small fits perfectly.
