This would be a perfect cell phone holster if it were design first with a cell phone mind. No way are you going to be able to easily remove or insert a smart phone, and if its an otterbox protective case forget about it. The side elastics are way too tight, I can see myself grappling with my cell just to get it out and that being enough to lose your grip on the cell. Build on with a cell phone in mind, instead of a two way radio, and it would be perfect.

I purchased this phone to allow me to carry my iPhone 13 Pro safely without a case. For the most part it’s worked. First of all, the case is really well made, but recognize (as i did before I bought it), that parts of the phone will be exposed. Like a dork, one time I tripped over something and the side of my body landed right on the case with the phone in it, but I got lucky. Just a tiny scratch on the corner of the phone.As i said however, I do like the case because it holds the iPhone snugly. As far as the tether is concerned, 3M supplies a small strip of their 3M VHB tape and it’s supposed to be applied to the back of the phone to hold the tiny clip that the tether attaches to. I know some people claim that it firmly adhere’s to phones like the iPhone 13, but somehow, I think these people have not really tested it. When I first had the sticker on, it felt like nothing would keep that sticker from coming off. It actually felt like I’d have to pry it off and then scrape off the VHB tape. But one day, i pulled the holster case off my belt loop, set the phone down for the evening and in the morning, I noticed that the VHB tape and clip basically fell off!!!! I was lucky again that I was able to recognize that this VHB tape idea wasn’t going to cut it, before I really needed it to prevent my phone from falling on the ground. If you own one of the new iPhones with the slightly frosted glass back, I’d highly recommend you reconsider tethering it another way because the VHB tape idea is faulty.So I’m still using my phone with the 3M DBI-SALA case and tether, but i bought one of those aluminum frames to go around the edges of the iPhone. It then snaps on with a metal clip that holds the frame, plus a backing that protects the back glass and camera lenses. it adds a small amount of weight, but it looks cool and will give me extra assurance that if I bump into a wall or something, only the case will get scratched. Plus it has a built in tether which allows me to safely attach the 3M tether. Worked out perfectly for me, and it looks cool. Just search on eBay for “aluminum metal frame†and several should pop up.So if it weren’t for the fact that the VHB sticker is a critical element of drop protection and in my view, is a weakness in it’s design for the iPhone’s with non-smooth glass, i would have given this a 5 stars. But since I had to tweak things a bit to add a different tether point, I’m rating it a 3. If you have a smooth glass or plastic back phone, I don’t think you’ll have any issues with the VHB tape falling off.

Would be really nice if it came with 2 adhesive connectors instead of one. I’ll have to source the real thing in the future whenever I change cases/change phones.I tried finding just the 3M adhesive connectors but most places that sell them (bulk only) were OOS. Y’all who are retailing these holsters here should also sell replacement adhesive pieces - like a 6 pack or something.
