How often do I need to change my filter housing's o-ring?
Captain O-Ring's high quality replacement water filter housing o-rings are designed for reliable extended use. Still, it is typically recommended to replace your o-ring on every third filter change to ensure it is in top shape to prevent leaks.
Can I use grease or lubricant on these o-rings?
Since Captain O-Ring supplies high quality o-rings without surface imperfections or tacky/sticky surface texture, lubrication is typically not needed if the filter housing sealing surfaces are clean and free of debris. Simply wet the o-rings with water before installing. However, if lubrication is preferred, these Buna Nitrile rubber o-rings are compatible with silicone based and petroleum based lubricants, as well as natural lubricants like vegetable oil.

I purchased this product to replace the O-Ring on a Kenmore 625.34320 water filter housing when I replaced the filter cartridge. The owner's manual for this filter housing calls for a Sears part number 42-34345 O-Ring to use as a replacement. This water filter housing must be at least 20 years old and the original O-Ring had never been replaced. I removed the old O-Ring and lubed up this new O-Ring with a little plumbers silicon grease. It slipped into the groove perfectly, and when I replaced the filter and screwed the sump onto the head assembly it formed a tight seal and after a few days there is no water leaking. If you have a Kenmore water filter housing that requires a 42-34345 O-Ring, this one fits perfectly and seals. It arrived quickly and was shipped in the same Amazon box that my filter cartridges were packaged in.

The o-rings were exactly as advertised. It’s an o-ring, so not much to say about it. But the star of the show is Captain O-ring. I needed these for a leaking water filter. I had no idea who made it or what model it was. If you’ve ever tried to measure an oring you know how hard it is to be absolutely sure you got the measurement right, the groove it sits in is at the bottom of the housing threads. Then when you try and find the actual size in the description of the listing... I was so frustrated I thought about buying a new filter housing because it would be less hassle. Then I found this listing for Captain O-Ring and they had the printable comparison sheet, no measuring or guessing, line it up with the outline that matches what you have, search for the listed part number and you’re done.Took me 5 minutes and the right part was on its way. Simplest thing that made the biggest difference. Two thumbs up.

It will be some time before I get a chance to use these o rings. I am hopeful they are OEM and will preform flawlessly, but again I have not used them.

Website description has my part number in it, but it is clear too large. Unfortunately, for me they don't allow returns. There are many other options, and they allow returns.

I used the online tool to find the right o-ring for my water filter. When they arrived they fit perfectly and got rid of my leak. Couldn't be happier. The online tool is a tremendous resource because I had no idea what I needed and had been putting up with the leak for years.
