This product, along with Capture powdered carpet cleaner was recommended to us by the man who installed our new light colored wall-to-wall carpet. He is also an animal lover, and swears by this brand. We have found it to work like magic. For cat pee, this works as well as hydrogen peroxide for eliminating the smell but does it with less bleaching (although still some). This is the basic procedure we use that seems reliable for cleaning up pet messes:1. Pick up/remove everything you can (using paper towels) that hasn't yet soaked into the carpet.2. Using 2-3 layers of paper towels, blot as much liquid out of the carpet as possible by standing on the paper towels with hard-soaled shoes for about 10 seconds per section to absorb liquid that is deep in the carpet. Repeat with clean paper towels until no more liquid will come out .3. If there is still lots of goop that won't come out, you can first use a sponge and water with a mild detergent to get more out (but I am told that detergent will remove the scotch guard coating on some carpets, so beware); blot again with paper towels. Typically, we skip this step.4. Spray generously with Capture Pet Stain remover and allow to sit for about 10 minutes (or longer with urine).5. If you have Capture powdered carpet cleaner...also a fabulous product...sprinkle on top of the Pet Stain remover to further absorb stains out of the carpet--leave for 30 minutes and then vacuum. If you don't have Capture powder, just stand on top of the stain with more more paper towels to absorb the liquid.Hope that helps those of you having trouble getting stains out.

Works great. Mist on spot, sprinkle powder and brush one direction. Let dry and vacuum. Just like the directions say.

I did what others who reviewed this product suggested I do by blotting as much off each time. However I think you really need to own a hot water extracting carpet cleaning machine to suck up all the dirty stain and cleaning solution.. I own a Hoover and it took me 4 rounds of both this with the powder to get rid of most of the dog urine stain we had in one area on our new off whitish carpet. Had another stain that was more bile and 3 rounds still wasn’t enough so I finally caved and finished it off with Bissell stain remover and it’s all gone now.

Capture is by far the best carpet cleaner out there. I have found all of their products to be superior and this one is no exception. Doesn’t have much of a scent but leaves everything smelling better and never causes stains or faded fabric.

I use this product for ALL carpet cleaning needs. I'll never use anything but Capture. I think Icould be a sales rep for them. I have turned many people into believers & now they use it too. Other company's products claim to get the pet smell out. Well i am here to say, THEY DON'T! Capture DOES! Our bloodhound/lab, 120 lbs, had a bladder infection we were unaware of. We came home to the necrotic smell of old blood & that horrible smell of nasty feet. She had an accident. About a 6" circumference of blood surrounded by urine, on the livingroom carpet!! Couple sprays of the Capture for pets & within 2 seconds, literally, the smell was gone! I recommend for ALL pet owners & homes with toddlers.

Well, if you do what the directions say, you soak it down to carpet padding and all, then you cant just spray it on. The whole bottle might do a couple square feet. I did that on part if the carpet. Just a bit, and towel to soak up and weight on it too. A day later the urine smell on that spot was pretty well gone, but this leaves a spicey smell behind. In a small room it would be suffocating. I rinsed the top some I think in the end. After that we use just the top of the carpet. Especially great for poo only spots. Not much spray needed. For deep urine we use other brands. In my bedroom, enclosed, it took a while to sleep with the door shut again. The smell isn't awful. It might be nice in a big room. But I think you need a huge bottle to get multiple animal smelly areas.
