This is a cheap tool, but it's build quality is good. It is made of metal and sturdy. I like that it can be adjustable to fit different sizes. It is easy to use because of the adjustability.

Tried this tool to remove a fuel pump on a Mercedes w447 (Metris), the ring is a piece of metal that usually can be removed with a hammer and a brass chisel, when installing the tool I just noticed the bolts had rounded edges making them hard to tighten up, ended up replacing them with regular 10mm bolts and washers, installed the tool and it broke at first try, then I could see is made of a cheap alloy like antimony or some aluminum mix , very brittle. Ended up removing and installing the pump the old way with just a couple of hammer hits.

I like that this has the option to use three legs instead of two. It worked to remove and replace the DEF tank collar on my Sprinter van. The legs appear to be cast metal rather than forged steel.

I do a lot of automotive fabrication and repair. I wanted a spanner that would properly fit the fuel tank lock rings on a number of vehicles. As you might know, the lock rings get pretty corroded and are in a totally filthy environment. Many times the lock rings will split or fail when trying to remove using the old hammer/screwdriver method and when they do fail, you take a huge chance on bending up the flange on the fuel tank.This spanner is well made and will work in a 2 or 3 tab type lock ring and will reach over the top of most fuel line ports and electric connector. Make sure you clean the entire area very well before you start. Use a penetrating oil around the lock ring and let it soak in for a while to do its job. Then install the spanner on ratchet. Do not use an impact driver. Press down firmly on the ratchet to keep the legs on the spanner fully engaged. Remove the lock ring by rotating counter clockwise. Installation is obviously done in reverse order, but it helps to put a little grease on the lock ring.I keep up with my reviews and will revisit this one should the need arise.I give this spanner my Big-Foot “Stomp†of approval and 5 stars!

This is a review for the Car Fuel Pump Removal Tool, Adjustable Fuel Lid Tank Cover Collar Ring Spanner, Universal 4.5" to 7.3" Fuel Tank Repair Tool, Auto Fuel Pump Lock Ring Removal Tool.This is a great tool to have on hand when you need to open a tank and replace the fuel pump or fuel level sensor. Everything looked like the pictures and there were no surprises. The tool looks and feel sturdy enough for the job. I haven't used it yet but it is great to have this tool on hand and ready for the next time that I will need it. This is so much better than trying to beat the tank collar around with a screwdriver,

This pump collar removal tool is a great thing to have around if you foresee yourself replacing the fuel pump on any modern vehicles. While many of the metal ones can simply be removed with a hammer and a chisel, some vehicle manufacturers have now seen fit to build their pump collars out of plastic, which certainly makes them corrosion-proof however also makes them quite incompatible with the strike of a hammer. Worse yet they oftentimes get seized up on the threads after years of being exposed to gasoline vapors. This tool makes short work of these threaded plastic collars, and can also be used on the metal ones to prevent damage that a chisel could incur. All around just a very useful tool to add to your arsenal if you pride yourself on professional repair jobs done right. The adjustability is a great benefit. They do have solid non-adjustable versions of these tools for specific applications, but this one should do everything they do and more. I'd recommend it to pro mechanics and shadetree knuckle-busters alike.
