I liked the packaging that kept the carbon fiber from getting damaged or dirty, the cuts were precise and nicely finished as was the surface finish of the rods. Also nice was the fact that they were genuine carbon fiber, and not just black fiberglass… if you want to check if you have real carbon fiber, use a multi meter set on the resistance scale and use the wire leads on each side of the rod, real carbon fiber will conduct electricity and fiberglass will not.

I am constantly rebuilding my foam, RC airplane. Yes, I crash it a lot. I also build other things out of XPS rigid foam and thin, carbon fiber rods are perfect for adding strength and support to a lot of things. These 16” x 5mm (¼") rods are amazingly strong. I tried to bend/break one and I couldn’t do it. Granted, I did not go crazy trying, as I felt that not breaking my fingers or slicing my hand would not serve any purpose. However, I put a substantial amount of force on one and it was fine. Thus, these are lightweight, strong and extremely useful. Now, let me go out and wreck my plane again.5 stars.Note: I have been an Amazon customer for almost 20 years. I write all of my reviews to reflect my personal observations and opinions on a product. It matters not if I have purchased the item myself or if it was provided to me for review. My goal is to provide other potential customers as much real-world knowledge as possible to make an informed decision. In most cases I will return to my review in 6 months or less to see if I should alter my original observations. In no case will the cost of a product influence my opinions at all. In addition, I will try to include multiple images and or videos on each product, if practical.

We have a few kites, but I REALLY have some RC planes, that I have to repair from time to time. In fact it is the 3D foam planes that need the most work and I use these carbon fiber rods to repair them (fuselage, reinforcement, etc.). I use foam safe super glue, and sometime foam safe rubber cement depending on the plane. The same applies for kites, just remember either way it takes 24 hours for the glue to cure.To cut a carbon fiber rod I tape the area that I am going to cut and score it first with painters tape and use a fine tooth jeweler's saw, and gently work it back and forth to cut through on a flat surface using some claps to help. These are your typical carbon fiber rods, nothing super spectacular or terrible about them. They get the job done in what I need and work well.

There's very little to talk about with these carbon fiber rods. They're just about exactly what they claim to be. The dimensions and quality are very accurate compared to the listed values. Additionally, I found through testing that these rods specifically are more rigid than other companies carbon fiber rods for the same dimensions. I couldn't tell you why they're stronger, other than them possibly being made out of higher quality carbon fiber, but they had significantly less deflection under equal loading conditions. A bonus added on top of their strength is the value. You're getting 10 5mm x 420mm rods for $25, that's a bargain compared to the other options. All in all these carbon fiber rods are a great option for any hobbyist looking for reinforcement and or structural pieces.

I originally bought these to replace the vertical spars on my RC BiPlane (38" wingspan). These are soooo overkill for my needs, but so be it. I was able to drill & tap the ends (carefully) and can now use simple bolts & washers on the wings. The full length of this rod can be flexed, but not by much. Shorter segments are solid for all intents and purposes. The next 2 rods are going to be coupled with a piece of aluminum and epoxy and buried as a horizontal spar in a 48" battle wing. This has all the stiffness of a 0.5" carbon tube at only 0.2"

I used these carbon fiber rods to build a frame over my small kitchen garden to hold either netting to keep out bugs or plastic to protect against cold. I forgot to take a picture before I started but they are exactly as depicted - smooth, strong and straight. I inserted the rods into the ground and then inserted the end of the tubing onto the rods to make hoops. The rods stayed firmly in the ground and held the pex tubing easily. Added bonus, they won’t rust. I’m sure these rods can be used for any number of projects. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for Carbon fiber rods for your 3D printed RC plane these are perfect. They are not hollow but solid carbon rods. Overall each rod looked pretty consistent - I measured 2.02mm dia. along the length of the rod so thats good enough for me.
