The local tire shop wanted 93.00/tire so probably like most of you I figured I could save a few bucks and look elsewhere. The tires I bought were 20X8X8 and were a direct John Deere L100 replacement. I read the reviews and knew they would be difficult to install but I embraced the challenge, I mean im a “go-getter†how hard could it really be? They arrived on time and came wrapped in that plastic wrap just like everyone said and it did misshaped /distorted it. So I did what others did and let them sit in the Oregon sun (maybe that's my problem right there) for a couple days to reshape themselves. After a few days I figured it would be worth the try... yeah the bead wasn't even close to the rim so I decided to stop while I was ahead and just have the local tire shop get it done for a small price.. totally worth it when I saw the challenge. So local the tire shop couldn't even get it inflated. They even used forced air or what they call the "cheetah" and still nothing. So they gave me back the tires and said “good luck, maybe come back later if they relax a littleâ€. Well, now I figured it was all on me to give it a hard try. My first thought was to warm them up so they can relax. So I soaked each tire in super hot water bath in my utility sink for about 6 hours per each tire. Then I let them relax overnight. That did help... but still not enough to remotely get the bead close to the rim. My next move was trying a heat gun... That didn’t last long as I could see that after 20 minutes there was little to no improvement. So then I started calling friends for advice to which they suggested I use ratchet straps to get the tire in place! Great Idea I thought! So I tried that…. Nothing. I even tried a few different ways… and nothing. So now ive wasted a bit of time trying to get this thing to seal. So I decided to try taking it to another tire shop… Maybe I got them to relax enough? Les Schwab (tire shop) said they would do it for no charge as all they were doing was airing it up.. so I was all about that! I dropped the tire off and said “Good luck! When you Yall finally give up please just put a tube in it, I’m done trying!†Two days later I got a call saying they were done and it was ready for pick up. Upon picking up the tire I was thoroughly amazed that they didn't use a tube. The service guy told me it was an after work party to try and get them inflated! They succeeded and I’m sure there's now a “no tractor tire†policy at all Lew Schwabs! Sorry guys! Haha. So the tires are now on the tractor, I have successfully installed and mowed the yard, the wife is once again happy and life has been restored. The tires seem really well built, sturdy and thick. I would highly recommend the tire build but minus 1 star as the are a son of a gun to install. So before you purchase you better get your game face on to try and install these! You might have better luck if your able to leave them out for a few weeks before you need to mount them… Good luck!

I almost came unhinged when I got the tires and they were branded Carlstar. I was still impressed with the quality. Did some checking and found out that Carlisle is now Carlstar. No big deal, still an excellent tire. They were compressed for shipping and that was a pain but not a deal breaker. Once you get the tire mounted it takes a little finagling to get the bead to seat. I remove the core from the valve stem so my compressor can fill the tire very quickly and that helps to seat the bead fairly easily, then I overinflated to firmly seat the bead, let most of the air out and replace the valve stem core and inflate to the correct pressure.Overall, very good quality tire and not too difficult to mount if you have some experience with that. If not, take them to a tire shop and have them mounted for you.

Purchased to replace my dry rotted tires on my John Deere l110. Based on past reviews as Sonia s they arrived, I cut the shrink rap and layed them in the driveway in the direct sun to help them regain their original shape. After laying in the sun for a couple hours I pushed out the remaining flat spots by hand and then took them to my local small engine repair person who installed them.He said he did have to use starting fluid to get the beads to seat but wasn’t terrible compared to other no name brand tires.I was concerned was the tires were labeled “carlstar†and not “Carlisleâ€, however there was a sticker on the tire that stated all Carlisle tires are now labeled Carlstar. After a quick google search I was pleased to hear the name change did occur and I didn’t get knockoffs. My factory Carlisle’s lasted 20 sum years so wanted to stick with the same ones. We’ll see how long these last.

The tire arrived on time and in good condition. I have ordered tires before and they sometimes arrived squished but that was not the case. Easy to install and inflate. There are lots of comments about how hard they are to install. If you are like me, I run a mower until it is completely dead so I change a lot of tires. Between my 2 mowers I have changed each tire at least once and this was the easiest to install and inflate. Not a single cuss word used. There were many comments about difficulty installing. I recommend buying the mini tire changer from Northern which is available on Amazon. This gives you a stable rim to work on and is much better than trying to remove and install on the ground while stabilizing the rim with your feet. It is especially beneficial on the smaller front tires. also get a set of tire spoons(2 ok but a third is nice or even a giant screwdriver). As for inflating, it is best to have a real compressor not the car plug in ones or a hand pump since the higher flow can compensate for the air leak until the bead seals. I was able to blow this one up with my car compressor however. If you can't get the bead to seal, try a belt around the middle of the tire which will force the bead out. If you are feeling adventurous, you can look up videos on how to inflate a tire with starting fluid. Kind of cool and I have done it a few times but I do not recommend it because of the danger. I lost my eyebrows and some arm hair the first time I did this. I believe there is also a chance of the tire exploding if you put in too much in it. My only complaint is that I don't like the tread since it doesn't match my other tires but I did not want to spend the extra money for the one with the matching tread.

The mower still has the original tyres from over 20 years ago and with half an acre to mow for 10 of those years, they’ve given good service, so when one of the rear tyres got a slow puncture I ordered the exact same tyre as a replacement. It arrived squashed into a curious triangular shape but, no worries, it would pump up to the correct shape. Except getting the bead to seal takes luck and perseverance… Remove the wheel to change the tyre (I removed the old one without taking the wheel off - bad move) and once you’ve got the new tyre on, soap the sealing surface liberally. While pumping air into the tyre, centre the wheel evenly so the bead is equidistant from the rim all round. Spin the wheel inside the tyre if necessary to make sure you have the same amount of rim showing everywhere. Taking care to maintain that equal amount of visible rim, turn the wheel so one of the triangle points is at the bottom and push down on the top of the tyre. Rotate the wheel to the next triangle point and do the same. Keep turning the wheel to each point and pushing down and the bead will eventually ride up the rim and seal. The tyre will then inflate.Actually - forget all that. Save yourself a pile of trouble and take the wheel and new tyre to a professional and get them to change it.PS. Don’t forget to replace the valve when you replace the tyre.
