Scoop itself is metal, so it's sturdy -- but it's attached to the handle by a metal tongue that is the weak point of the whole scoop. If you try to use the scoop to move litter around the litter box, the tongue will bend, and eventually weaken to the point where the handle comes off the scoop.

I don't recommend this for Catalyst cat litter. The scoop picks up the litter, but then the litter doesn't fall through the holes, even fresh clean litter. This works ok with other types of litter (World's Best and Pet So Phresh grass seed litter). My litter boxes all have slightly rounded inside edges, so the pointy corners of this scoop make it hard to get all the bit's of litter out in some places. Overall, it is a decent scoop. It is much more comfortable in my hand than other scoops, and it is sturdy.

The handle on this is much sturdier than the handles on most plastic scoopers so can ... handle the pee stuck to the bottom easily!

I'm thinking about getting a cat and want to be prepared - this was a great product that came at a great time and am really happy with it!! Great size, and I know it will get the job done. I am really super excited !!
