Washable Granules are cat-safe granules that satisfies a cat's need to dig and cover, but never needs to be replaced! All you do is add Granules whenever the level gets below the line in the bowl. That's it! Washable Granules are made of a dust-free, non-toxic combination of natural and synthetic materials with a special additive to make them bio degradable and break down naturally in Septic Systems.
Each box is the size of a box of rice and lasts 2-5 months depending on the number of cats, their waste, and how much your cats dig in their box.
IMPORTANT: NEVER use cat litter in the CatGenie.

I bought a CatGenie, with the added dome, directly from their website back in November (nine months ago), I was thrilled we finally had a home with an actual laundry room and space to put this behemoth of a litter box. I bought my first box of granules in December, knowing that I'd need to maintain a certain depth of litter for the Genie to function properly.These granules do track everywhere, it's easy to tell if my cat has been getting somewhere she shouldn't have been, because I find one or two of these on the counter or somewhere else similar on a regular basis. Having a litter mat directly in front helps, and another complaint I read was during the wash cycle they tend to fly... the dome accessory helps with this dramatically. Otherwise, after six months, I finally emptied my first replacement box of granules. I only have one cat, but my Genie does run twice a day. I do also have a part goat, corgi puppy, who was just simply using the kitty flap into the laundry room and eating the granules themselves as a snack (I checked each time I caught him, box was clean, he's just... part goat), which also sped up the need of a new replacement box.If I'm not feeling lazy and am halfway ambitious, it's also very easy to pick up the mat I have in front, fold it, and dump the loose litter that I can back into the Genie.

Love our cat genie, don't mind having to get a box every now and then. I still think it's cheaper in the long run to a different regular litter box. It's great that it came with a box of the detergent too. Shipping could have been a bit sooner, but no complaints.

You can't really thoroughly consider the CatGenie granules in isolation from the CatGenie or vice versa, but I'll give it a shot vs. clay-based standard litter in a regular litter box.These granules are about millet size, plastic, and they don't clump and they don't break, grind or decompose into fine clay. As such, they're easier to clean up after getting kicked out. Also, I don't feel quite as yucky to find them around the house as I did for the clay, since I know they've been washed several times today and they haven't absorbed anything.I have two cats, and neither of them had a problem adjusting to the change in texture from standard litter. As a plus, it doesn't stick between pads as much either.You definitely want a box on hand at all times for the CatGenie, since too few in the pan will potentially put off the cat and also possibly result in a basin-filling error on the cat genie -- they displace a certain amount of the wash water, and the Genie will think it's taking too long to fill if they aren't there taking up room.A certain amount will be consumed during each wash -- some will stick to "solids" and a few others will cling to the scooper despite the shaking action it uses.A good product to consider for subscription shipment to prevent an emergency next-day-air situation.

This product works great but you do have to have the "CatGenie" litter box to use them as directed. However, if you can not afford the cat genie I am sure you could improvise some type of draining cat pan using these granules and do a rotational wash and dry of them. While they are drying you can put new granules down or previously washed and dried granules. The benefit is they are washable and become scent free to humans. if you do use the companies liquid washing packets with their machine and run out of the disinfectant wash you can turn off the "CatGenie" wash out the whole unit by hand. Keep it unplugged and let dry completely wash the granules in a separate container with a very mild and all natural dish washing soap (use very little to prevent over sudsing and extensive rinsing). Remember this is done by hand and not using any other cleaning product directly in the "CatGenie" itself to keep warranty intact. Rinse granules until all soap rinses clear, drain and dry and then you are ready to replace them back into the "CatGenie" for use until your supply of disinfectant comes in or place back in you master minded self draining cat pan you design yourself. It beats nasty clay litters or any other type of litter because they are washable and reusable for quite sometime before breaking down. Next best step next to teaching your pets to all use the toilet and flushing themselves.

The granules do what they are meant to. I tried a bunch of different alternatives in the catgenie (even though you're not supposed to) like bird seed, fine gravel, other cheaper granule beads but my cats didn't like it and the bowl didn't work 100% either. They did the job but if the cat doesn't like it then you have an expensive useless litter box. The granules are more expensive than the other things but if it works and my cats use the litter box then its worth it. It's still cheaper than buying regular litter every month and cleaning it all the time too.
