Rubbing plates are sets of black plastic textured material that can be used to transfer designs to fabric. Be sure to try making rubbings from both sides: sometimes the back is more interesting than the front! Plates are constructed of plastic and measure 7-1/8x7-1/8".

The plate designs are unique and the plastic is not flimsy. It is easy to use the entire design or just portions.

These rubbing plates are colored in the photo for us to see the pattern. The plate patterns are exactly like the photos and are deep set for prints.

I am new to using Shiva Paintstiks and although I know you can use an enormous variety of materials to use with them to create a design on fabric, canvas, wood, etc., I found thesee to be a great way to start playing on fabric. The designs are all different and make nice patterns and can be layered to create even more unusual effects. Household items like doilies and dishmats are useful once you get familiar with the concept but this is a great way to start.

These plastic tiles are thin and flimsy but work fine for doing paint rubbings.

those texture sheets are garbage and not worth the return money to send them anywhere

so bought these, used them and thought they were ok. Had to figure out how to use them and my art friend did and now I think they are great. Wish they were larger.
