About this item

  • Enjoy wide 82° views with Celestron Luminos Eyepieces
  • Retractable eyecup pops up when you need it, drops down when you don’t
  • Sturdy anodized aluminum barrels are threaded for filters
  • A rubber grip keeps the eyepiece securely in your hands, even when it’s cold or you have gloves on

The Luminos series eyepieces offer a wide 82º field of view in both high power and low power models allowing you to make the most of your telescope whether you own a short fast refractor or a Celestron EdgeHD telescope. The optical set consists of six or seven elements (depending on the model) and is fully multi-coated for crisp sharp views. All six Luminos eyepieces are parfocal which means you can switch out eyepieces during observing sessions with little or no additional focusing required.
The Luminos eyepiece body is made of polished and anodized aluminum. A rubber grip runs around the equator of the eyepiece giving you a secure grip and an easy method for raising and lowering the retractable eyecup. Simply twist the rubber grip to adjust the height of the eyecup. The insert barrel is threaded to accept filters.

What can you say about Luminos eyepieces? First impression, they are big and heavy. Lots of glass and metal that could put you over the limit on your mount if you are already close, but so worth the view! I now own the 31mm, 23mm, 19mm, and 15mm Luminos eyepieces. For the money they are a great value, exceptionally builtwith outstanding wide, clear, bright views, and convenient features like the adjustable eyecup. Luminos is not TeleView good, but what is? Luminos holds it's own at its given pricepoint and is a great value. Using with a Celestron CPC 925 Edge HD.

I recently added a 2" Dielectric star diagonal to my C8, after seeing a gorgeous view through a neighbor's scope. When I looked in his 2" eyepiece, it was like looking through a spaceship window instead of the pinhole view I was used to with my 1.25" EP. Your eyes will thank you for it. I chose the Celestron line of 2" eyepieces due to their affordability, good reviews, and my overall comfort with the brand as a novice astronomer. I couldn't be happier. The 23mm EP, in conjunction with the new diagonal, provided a wonderful view the Orion Nebula on my first viewing. Although Jupiter was bright and sharp, as well, I found that my Celestron 8-24mm 1.25" EP offered a similarly good image. The retractable eyepiece is a nice touch, although I find it harder to get a full view with it fully raise. In most dark environments, I probably will not use it. The build quality of the eyepiece is impressive. It's stunning to look at in person. What surprised me most was its size and weight, Sure, the specs listed the weight before purchase, but I didn't realize what it would feel or look like in my hand. Overall, I feel like I made a great choice for my first 2" eyepiece, and I have already begun adding more.

The wide field of view, crisp optics and comfortable viewing (exit pupil) make this eyepiece a please to use. Good value.

Just got my new 8'' SCT Celestron in and put this eyepiece in to look at the moon and wow very nice. I had no trouble seeing the craters.

A good eyepiece! I have a 10 inch (254 mm) Dobsonian (Newtonian reflector) telescope, with a focal length of 1200 mm, f/4.7. In my scope, this eyepiece (EP) gives 63x magnification, an apparent field of view of 82 degrees, a true field of view of about 1.3 degrees, and an exit pupil of 4.02 mm. Images through this EP are bright and crisp, with slight coma/distortion at the edges, but no more than to be expected in a fast f/4.7 Dob. It is a joy to behold nebulae and open star clusters with this EP - I can fit the entire expanse of the Pleiades (Messier 45) in this EP! It is big and heavy, to be sure, but on a scope my size, it does not throw off the balance at all. Recommended.

The 19mm came in a box listing the dimension of 1.25".I opened and checked, and it was a 2" eyepiece inside.

I've chosen to use two inch eyepiecs on my 8" Dob for deep space objects, and this 19mm with the wide fov gives me amazing views. It has the look and feel of a well made eyepiece. The eye relief twists up smoothly. It accepts my thread in my filters nicely. The wide fov makes it great for star surfing and locating objects. All of the Orion Nebula will easily fit in the view.I have no 'cons' with this lens, and I would recommed this product to other astronomers.

This eyepiece truly provides a wide field of 82degrees with an amount of details that you won’t see with cheap eyepieces. The quality is top notch whilst the price remains affordable.Unfortunately it was too heavy for my telescope so I had to send it back. Thanks Amazon for a great customer service and easy and smooth return process.
