works as expected. I have a bolt where the nut was rusted to the nut. Put penetrating oil on threads and nut; could not put too much torque on nut, so cut off nut with angle grinder. After filing the threads burrs, used die to rethread and worked wonders. Made sure had oil on threads and die, and turned no more than 1/4 turn before backing off. Again, limited by amount or torque I could apply. Threads on bolt are now usable. Would highly recommend; make sure the threads and die are lubricated and use a die wrench to stabilize die. Die is 1" hex

The die seems to be just as good as others selling for much more. I bought mostly to clean up threads on bolts before reinstalling them on a car. They worked excellently for this. I have no doubt that it's sharp enough to cut new threads. I will buy more Century dies and taps when needed in the future.

Not sure exactly what the cause of the issue is because the die looks just fine but as it is cutting the threads perfectly fine as the piece goes in the front of the die but as it is coming out the other side its shearing them off making them unusable.

This die is terrible. Absolute junk.I turned 1/2â€-13 thread on my lathe.OD was turned to 0.495â€, and the thread form was 0.005†from upper end of PD.The die was very difficult to start (that should have been my warning to stop what I was doing.) I gave the die the benefit of the doubt and turned until it was fully engaged on the part, breaking chips every 1/4 turn.When I reversed the die off the part, I could see the threads themselves weren’t touched, and the major diameter had been chewed down to 0.475â€!!!!! PART RUINED!I tested the die on some 1/2â€-13 threaded rod, and the same thing happened.Unfortunately I can’t get a refund from Amazon for the scrapped material and the machining time I had into it.Don’t buy this junk.
