Ceramic Fiber Blankets
High temperature stability: Ceramic fiber insulation blanket withstands direct flame, continuous use at 2200 ℉, intermittent use at 2400 ℉. Above 2400 ℉ it will begin to shrink, become brittle and eventually melt at 3200 ℉.
Thermal conductivity: The R-value is approximately 2.5 per inch. For a 1000 ℉ hot face with 1" of insulation, expect the cold face of the insulation to be 220 ℉.
Installation: Mechanical fastening or high temperature adhesive such as sodium silicate, refractory cement or RTV silicone.
Quality: Made from premium 8lb density ceramic fiber that has high insulating value, strength & durability. Made in the USA.
Chemical composition: 46% alumina, 54% silica and less than 1% impurities.
Uses: Fireplace insert insulation, baffle blankets, wood stove insulation, kiln insulation, blacksmith forge, pizza ovens, brazing, soldering blanket, welding, pellet stove, chimney lining, furnace insulation, boiler, foundries, refractory wool , glass blowing, jewelry making, fireproof doors, fireplace insulation, muffler packing.

Finally , put this product to the test. I am very impressed. Built a kiln for bisque firing clay to cone 04 , 1950 F , firing length about seven hours , forty five minutes, the surface of the steel can I was using measured by infrared thermometer a max of 289 F. No heat stress anywhere on the can. Worked great ! Rugged material , has weight and fiber strength but cuts easy with long razor knife.

I want to use this form material to plug my fireplace. Arrived on time in a medium size box. As I pulled the foam out of the box, lots of particles came out with the foam and landed on my for-arms and my leggings.It hurts my skin like thousand pieces of glass stuck to my skin. I had to take all my clothing for a rinse with soap. I later found a big plastic bag and repackaged the material for return. I am not a professional, but I was wore gloves, mask and face covering to protect myself before I opened the box. Unfortunately, it was not enough. The particles are very harmful to me. I advise the manufacturer should warm customers with a hazard warning label.

i used two of these to surround two 3" Dura Vent stainless steel lines that run from a new gas fireplace insert to a chimney cap. After removing the flue damper to change from wood burning to gas, I was concerned that too much cold air would enter the house. This seems to have worked well and was easier than bending a piece of steel for a damper block plate.
