A rod end bearing, also known as a Heim joint, is a mechanical articulating joint. Such joints are used on the ends of control rods, steering links, tie rods, or anywhere a precision articulating joint is required, and where a clevis end. The advantage is that the ball insert permits the rod or bolt passing through it to be misaligned to a limited degree.

Worked out so nice on my road king I ordered a second set for my street glide. Definitely recommend to replace the factory tie rod ball socket ends on factory shifter linkage.

I used the Heim joint to replace the OEM joints on a 2024 road king special shifter linkage. It was done for preventative maintenance. The results are solid shifts and the joints should last for many years. FYI, on my application I had to thread the linkage rod farther down on each end with a tap & die set to enable me to get the overall length where it was needed.
