I noticed with every single sprayer I looked at there were negative reviews. This sprayer does the trick for what you pay for. The only recommendations I have about the design is the base, and whose holder clip. If the base was a little bigger it wouldn't fall over as much. Adding a clip to hold the whose so when storing the whose can stay in place and out of the way. Causing less binding and less chance of tipping over.I do enjoy this sprayer a lot more than the gallon sprayer because the pump isn't the handle as well causing stripping after use. I also wish that every part of the sprayer was available when it does break. Some of them are specially made for the sprayer so you can't find them on the website or hardware stores.

Well made 4 gallon sprayer except that it does not hold pressure like small sprayers. I consider that a good thing, not to blow up tanks or parts. I am a senior citizen with a bad back and alot of yard. Tried all of the 1 gallon ready to go, pump and go, electric want that clogs, etc. This unit is easy to take apart if the nozzle was to ever clog. Just spin off and clean. One received was assembled backwards at their assembly line. So the handle when straight up needed to be pushed backwards in order to pump! I could not get more than a little pump and could not reach behind my back to get a full pump. Contacted the company who provided easy instructions to fix the problem. Remove a cotter pin, 2 bolts, pull out the main rod, flip over and insert from opposite side. Bolts and pin back in fixed it. Now the handle goes from straight up and pumps forward like it is supposed to. Cannot wait to use it again but this time with lots of pressure. Remember to use properly, give it 10 pumps and spray. When the stream slows, give it 4 or 5 pumps. You can twist the front nozzle like a garden hose sprayer to get stream, spray, fan, etc. Well made for the money and I tried 3 gallons first time which covered everywhere I wanted to spray.

Maybe you've heard the tale of the diner who was told she could get the Neiman Marcus cookie recipe for "two-fifty" and discovered when the credit card bill arrived that it was not $2.50, but $250. She dealt with her frustration and feelings of being mislead by sharing the recipe with as many people as possible.  That's exactly why I am writing this review. I can't return this sprayer since the return window is well closed, but I can warn others to avoid it.As for my experience with the sprayer, I used it three times last summer, half filled each time.  I cleaned it thoroughly and sprayed clean water through it for several minutes each time; plus, I stored it in an interior garage closet where it wouldn't be exposed to heat or cold extremes.Last month, I used it successfully, then again this past week...until I heard a popping sound and the pumping bar stopped creating pressure. The manual Indicated three possible problems, all with the pump. I followed directions to take the pump out and apart. Nothing was dirty so that eliminated one possibility and nothing looked worn or damaged which eliminated the other two. The pictures in the manual of the pump parts/construction left much to be desired, so I called customer service troubleshooting line. The agent told me she could not walk me through determining the problem because she could not see my pump. She then said the problem was likely what she most often encounters--a snapped ring or collar. She explained these elements often dry out and become brittle when stored for the winter. Her suggestion was to purchase a pump replacement kit since the problem was probably with the pump. It took a transfer to find out the cost of the kit (with shipping) was about two-thirds of the cost of just buying this sprayer again. I decided that buying this sprayer again was foolish, not only because of my experience but because of the answers to the last two questions I asked the troubleshooting agent. Would this problem likely repeat after the sprayer had been stored for winter? (Answer--quite possibly.) Was the company addressing this problem--since she said it came up frequently and had been brought to the attention of CS supervisors-- like using a more resilient rubber or providing extras rings/collars with the pumps? (Answer--not that she knew of.)When I purchased this sprayer, there weren't that many reviews and they were mostly positive.  Today, I see plenty of critical reviews that sadly were not available back then.  I can't get my money back; but there is some satisfaction in adding yet another negative review that can be of value in guiding others to keep searching for a sprayer that will be an investment rather than a trip to the landfill.

It's a very nice entry-level sprayer. Works very well with quality parts but is not comfortable while on your back. But it is definitely a value for the money and gets the job done.

Piston fills with water so it won’t maintain pressure. Worked once then stopped working.

I should have purchased this back pack sprayer years ago! It is just the right size to spray all of my fruit trees. It is so much easier to use than a shoulder strap sprayer and my arms thank me after every use.

I like it! I have not fully used it for what I intended to use it for. However, I did trialled using it with just water to see how it work. It worked really well. I only partially filled the tank to two gallons only to see how heavy the equipment will be when I carry it on my back. It seems to work well for me and will definitely use it for spraying the weeds later on.
