I love these reels! You do have to assemble them, but I did not find this to be difficult. Plus, you only have to put them together once. I know these will last for years (I have some I purchased a long time ago that are just like these, and they’re still in use). I really like the reels since it is so easy to roll the lights right off the reel and onto the tree - no tangling! When you take them off the tree, they go back on the reel straight from the tree just as easily. The reels are sturdy, so I think rolling an extension cord on them would work well too. The big bonus with these reels is that they have their own bag - very cool! I was concerned that all three reels might not fit once they were completely full of lights, but no problem at all. So, obviously I highly recommend these reels and bag!

Took a bit to figure out their assembly but after that all was fine. I'll make them a bit narrower but the dia is just right for audio cables up to 50 foot. This is the second set for me the others have lasted fine for the last 4 or 5 years of traveling around.

I never read anything about these reels needing to be assembled. I never read anything about a tool being required. Phew! The poles on one side would escape while trying to place the poles on the other side. Once I located the correct cross point screwdriver, the poles moved. I had to fight each pole and screw!

Really great. But I had to put the reels together. Maybe i missed that little fact in the description. Each reel had 12 screws. Was a pain. Works well though. Sturdy. The bag is nice for storage.
