They were thin wood which worked well for what I needed. It was annoying to have to thread them all with the twine.Some of the pieces came a little broken just because they had really thin parts. But you couldn’t really tell.

The images themselves are cute but they are not as vibrant as the photos. The twine doesn't come attached and it's poor quality so as I was putting them together, it started unraveling. Once I finished, I realized the set is missing 4 pieces. Since I already did the work (and my kids saw them), I am not returning them but I'm not overly pleased.
