I Bought this for Tree Work but found something that worked better for that. Hope to still use it for Rock Climbing!

The QKDS ascender is well made and does not damage your when loaded. It is fairly versatile because it is rated for 8 to 13 mm ropes. The ascender uses a ribbed cam to grab the rope, so there are no sharp surfaces to tear the outer sheath of a rope. Understand that the manufacturer has not received UIAA certification. Also, never use this device as a stand-alone rescue ascender. Always use a hollow block or secondary ascender as a backup device for redundancy in any situation while ascending. My only concern with this device is the possibility of a defect being discovered at some date in the future; would the manufacturer issue a recall on this product? I have no answer for this.

So there is no teeth in the device for grabbing the rope, it is a smooth piece pinching the rope. It works at specific angles but it WILL slip eventually. Throw in the extra money and get a KONG DUCKY or a petzl rescucender.

so just to be clear it does work great going up but coming down not so goodi used a repelling lanyard on top of this for descent

So I got this to swap out my prussec knot on my linesman belt for hanging a tree stand. While im not a climbing expert I can tell you this particular item isnt meant for that. I felt very unsafe and really didnt work. I would spend more money on a reputable piece of climbing equipment. They are out there for not much more.

Works well with 3/16" rope. When the rope is thicker the cam did not lock down very tight.
