The hot hemmer is an absolute must. It makes life easier for sewing hems, ensuring precise length of the hem. Ironing the seams and hems provides a better lay of the material , too. It’s just one of those essential tools you don’t know you need until you use it, after which you wonder how you managed without it!

Now, you may be thinking, "I don't need this. I have a seam gauge and several rulers already. And I could mark up card stock and get nearly the same thing." It's what I was doing for years! However, after a particularly annoying set of mitered corners I took the plunge and bought this. The beauty of this is that its stiff, accurate, has multiple useful orientations, and is plenty heat resistant. My corners come out perfectly and with far less work now! Plus hems and cuffs need much less work to get evenly turned.

I just wish that it was longer. It is only 6†long on the longest side. The thickness is nice. I’m not sure how long the printing on the ruler will last, but I guess time will tell. Value for the money? In my opinion, I think you are paying for the Clover name….almost $13 is a bit expensive for what you get.

I had one of these several years ago. I was happy to find it again and Amazon had it for a reasonable price. It makes hemming anything easier and faster. It never discolors with a very hot steam iron. It is easy to use and takes up little space to store between projects.

When I first got the Hot Hemmer I thought it was not going to work for what I needed. It is pretty short! I was not impressed at all, but then I decided to try it as I was needing to hem a ruffle 1/2" and it was a fairly long piece of material and I needed the hem to be really straight. Even though it is short, it works really well - you can put it on your fabric and just turn it up and iron the correct measurement all the way around. It makes hemming faster and easier as you don't have to keep measuring. You just flip the fabric over the hemmer to get your measurement and iron. I keep it handy now as I use it just about every time I sew!

Very useful gadget for sewing. Good quality too. Sure you can make a hem template from card stock, but this is sturdier and lasts longer. Speedy shipping by seller.
