Bought this to help keep the quilts and heirloom blankets in good condition and bug free. It is quite heavy but it is also very sturdy. I’m 250 pounds and can sit on it with no worries while I put socks on. Took only about ten minutes to assemble and the instructions were very easy to follow. Minimal tools needed. Hardware is durable for everyday use as well.

My husband had it put together and when he screwed the hinge in the partial board broke off. I was ready to send it back but he was able to get deeper screws to hold hinge. It would have been more trouble to take apart and send back. Thankfully you can’t tell it is broken from the outside. This chest is pretty but very small! It is not very well made. Nothing like my family had growing up! They don’t make them like they used to! This is partial board!

I love this item and it was relatively easy for me to put together. I am a 66 year old widow so I have no help. I only had difficulty in putting the lid on, holding it by myself, but I did it okay. The finished product was very stable and looks good.I had no problems with the shipment or the shipper.

It has not been a complete year yet and the lid has broken. There are no children in this house and it holds quilts so it is hardly opened.

The directions aren't very good. It took me awhile to figure it out. The drawings are not that helpful. The lines pointing to the numbers and alphabets are vague and confusing. When I unboxed this chest some of the parts were missing and the sheet to identify the hardware was not included. I couldn't build it for about two weeks because of the missing items.I emailed customer service for the sheet to identify the hardware which they emailed me promptly. Once I opened the parts bag I discovered some of the parts were needed to be replaced. It took some time for customer service to ship them. All in all I'm satisfied with the cedar chest but the directions needs a lot of work to be not so confusing. What was supposed to be a thirty minutes job to build ended up being a seventy minute job to build. The cedar chest is what I wanted.

I just finished putting the chest together earlier today (it's been sitting in a box in the garage since May!), and it looks nice. It went together quickly, and feels pretty solid. However, I made the mistake of trying to use the lock. It locked fine, but nothing could get it to unlock. My chest now has no locking functionality as I cut the piece that attaches to the lid right in half with a hacksaw to get it apart. This did some damage to the wood right by the hasp as well, but it will do.Also note that this is NOT a cedar chest. It is a particleboard chest with a cedar veneer on the inside surfaces, and a stained wood veneer on the outside surfaces. Don't be fooled. It's not solid wood.

This is great inexpensive product with a cedar lined base that repels insects. The finish is pretty good for the price. Unfortunately the damper for the opening and soft closing of the top is of poor quality and can freeze which pulls out the hinges from the thin back panel.
