It took an hour to brew the max level. Possibly had too many grounds inside. I wish there was a batter way to know how many crowns I need to use for this pot. But the coffee did stay hot. The handle was far enough away from the pot that nobody got burnt would buy again.

This is easy to use for a large crowd. We have 60 to 70 each week for coffee and donuts. The students love the coffee.

Paper filters will result in weak coffee. Wrong grind level can affect the quality. Grind should be about 2/3 to 3/4 of max course grind setting (32 to 36 out of 48 for my coffee grinder). This URN makes up to 50 cups of coffee. This cup is based on 4.5 oz (a cup of coffee is accepted to be between 4 and 6 oz). This means the 50 cup coffee maker makes 28.125 fluid cups based on max level and 8oz per cup. Be careful with the temperature setting -- too low will result in weak coffee. The coffee should percolate for another 7 to 10 minutes after brewing. 50 cups of coffee will fully brew in as quickly as 45 minutes. The grinds will absorb approximately 1/2 cup of water for every 7.5 cups so compensating for this loss is a good idea (2 cups for full brew). Use 16 to 20 grams of coffee for every 8 oz of water depending on your preference (not including compensated water loss).

These coffee urns are great for events, or if you have a big family that loves coffee. It was easy to clean before using. I love that I can use any brand of coffee and each time the coffee comes out perfect. The temperature was easy to adjust and has a protective cover so that you don't get burned. The coffee stays hot for hours. I love it!
