The glasses were bought to help me see colors, but they have bad reflections of my eyes, and they also distort "white". Cannot use them for painting, as I had hoped.

I'm slightly color blind and indeed these glasses do help bring out more color contrast which allows you to distinguish the differences in colors better. The problem though is the glasses really don't allow you to see the true colors (every thing appears more red to me with the glasses on). The best way I can describe this is it provides an outline between the differences in color but not the actual colors. Without the glasses I may not be able to pick out the blueish-green number 5 within the reddish-brown background. With the glasses I can see the number 5 much more clearly but couldn't tell you for certain the colors I'm seeing. In other words, I recommend these glasses if you're not seeing the contrast in color well but I wouldn't recommend these glasses if you really need to know for certain, green is green, blue is blue, red is red, etc.I have family members that suffer from full color blindness. When I get a chance I'll have them see for themselves whether these glasses are helpful to them or not. If there answer is yes, I'm willing to rank these glasses based on their experience higher than my 3 stars.

Because of how color vision works and how colorblindness works, these glasses can't work. Normal color vision is caused by three different types of cone cells in the eye. Each type of cone cell has a different molecule called an opsin on its surface. There are blue opsins, which are the majority that are basically the only color you perceive in your peripheral vision. There are green opsins that are expressed towards the focus of your vision in the macula. There are red opsins that are almost entirely expressed in your fovea, in the center of your vision.People who are colorblind simply don't have the gene for red opsin and thus can never see red light. These glasses can't change that. These glasses are just polarized lenses with a color filter tint to them. They can make the colors you see more intense but they can't make a colorblind person suddenly able to perceive red light.
