What a deal. I was desperate because family member was sick and needed to use the humidifier that night but I realized I tossed the previous filter. Went to retail store and paid $15 for one filter. When I got home and looked at what amazon offered - 3 filters for similar price. So I bought it and returned the one I bought from store. works perfect with our Holmes humidifier. Also, son used for 3 nights then I took filter out and let it dry. It has no odor or mildew so definitely can use in the future. good product and longevity.

I rinsed mine first, they seemed to have some kind of soapy residue on them as they bubbled up when gently pressing water through them as if they had a soap residue in them, surely they probably have some Chinese finishing chemicals to keep them from molding or something. After rinsing they seem to work okay for a few weeks, then our hard water deposits harden them and keep them from absorbing, might be able to soak in vinegar to break down minerals, but haven't tried that yet.
