I purchased this because I needed to drill holes into plastic Raspberry Pi cases to mount fans to prevent overheating. The bit worked very well. I held the plastic lid on top of a short piece of 2 inch PVC pipe and I covered the plastic to be drilled on both sides with masking tape to prevent cracking. I drilled slowly and successfully created the 1-1/8 inch hole I needed to mount the fan. This bit was less than half the cost I found in the local stores. Durability and longevity are not an issue for me as I am drilling plastic, and once I am done with my project I may never use this again. By gradually enlarging the hole and the tape reinforcement my holes came out clean with no cracks or burs.

I needed a step drill bit for a burning barrel. I could have purchased one locally at the big chain stores, but I saw this one and it would be delivered same day. I thought I would take a chance that it's okay quality, considering I needed it quickly and it was so cheap. It worked as planned! It cut right through a pretty tough 55 gallon drum without a scratch or chip on the bit. I'm happy with it for the price.

I needed to enlarge eight 1/2" holes to 3/4", in some mild steel square tubing. By working slowly, and using plenty of cutting oil, this bit did the job. The bit had some damage, but not too bad. Since this is my first step bit, I can't compare it to any other brands. It was cheap and did the job. GOOD ENOUGH!

I have a hand-me-down squat/workout rack. There are pegs for weights on it. However the pegs are spaced apart vertically in a way that you can not place olympic sized weights on both of them at the same time. My solution was to move the top peg up a few inches by drilling a hole in the metal frame. None of my normal drill bits could make a 1 inch hole. This thing worked quickly and easily. I was able to determine the whole size needed by placing this bit in the original hole and seeing which "step" I needed to drill to. Simply drilled to that step and was able to place the peg at a higher level.Due to drilling in metal, some of the gold/brass colored coating came off, but the drill bit is not damaged in any way.Works great!

I've never used a step bit before.I needed to make the heater holes in the firewall of my Morris Minor bigger, as I am going with vintage wrapped-looking upgraded silicone hoses.Basically, I just needed bigger holes and I was able to get the holes just the right size by going a step at a time. It was very easy to do with my cordless drill. This worked well. It went through that heavy gauge sheet metal no problem. The price was just right.Amazon's service was great as well.Highly recommend.

Got this for the holes it would create. It works great. Pretty sharp bit as well. Don’t know yet about longevity (thus 3 stars), but it seems legit. You have to be careful not to go too far with your drill if you’re looking for a smaller hole.

I got this for the purpose of drilling into a chunk of hardwood. After 1/2" was engaged, it became very slow and tended to burn, more than drill. I had to very actively apply and release pressure on my drill press to get this to work. I also had to permit it to rest for 30 minutes a couple times also, as the bit became very hot.Works great in softer material, but that's not why I purchased it.
