- CARDED WOOL - 12 colors of carded New Zealand Maori Wool, 1/2 ounce each (14 gr). This wool is a favorite for quick and easy felting. Processed by DHG in Italy.
- COMBED WOOL - 5 colors of Merino combed wool, 1/4 oz each (7 gr). Used for accents such as hair, fur, and more. Sourced from mills in the U.K.
- CORE WOOL - 2 oz of Corriedale wool. This wool is perfect for the core of most projects. Sourced from mills in the USA and Uruguay.
- CRUELTY FREE - All of our wool is sourced from farms that adhere to strict animal welfare practices.
- FELTING NEEDLES - 6 precision felting needles made of high carbon steel. Color coded. Two each: 36 gauge Star, 38 gauge Star, and 40 gauge Spiral/Twist. Made by Groz-Beckert of Germany.
- FELTING CUSHION - 100% pure wool, size 5" x 6" x 1”, made in USA.

This kit is recommended for those who want to learn the craft of needle felting and are confused with where to begin. - The use of high quality wool is necessary for success in needle felting. Some wool can be difficult to felt with because of poor selection and harsh processing which can damage the fiber. All of the wool in this kit is specially selected for the specific needs of needle felting, then gently processed with Oeko-Tex approved cleaners and dyes.
- Felting cushions are commonly made of foam, which are often made of toxic chemicals. Repeatedly poking the foam with the needle can release these toxins. Felting cushions from Desert Breeze Distributing are made of 100% pure and natural sheep wool.
- Precision needles are important for success in needle felting. Felting needles have tiny barbs going in one direction that catch the scales of the wool fibers and lock them together. When a needle is rough and the barbs are not well defined, the felting process can be erratic and leave a rough surface. The needles in this kit are made of high-carbon steel and offer precise control of the felting process. This is a wonderful starter kit for beginning felting. I bought this item so that I could start repairing old wool and cashmere sweaters, and this kit comes with everything you need (although I would recommend watching a YouTube video for instructions as this does not come with any). High quality felting mat, nice leather finger protection, several needles and a good selection of nice wool all in a carrying case.

This kit has opened my world to needle felting. The Quality of the strong robust precise needles, the thick felting mat and the array of assorted wools including carding and Marino wool has enabled me to begin crafting really lovely and good quality products! ( The instruction leaflet only gave one example of the owl to make and though I searched the Website I couldn’t find how to make the other items which were pictured. I would have loved to have made the bear for example) Otherwise I recommend this Kit! I love it!!!

I wanted to try needle felting to make a penguin-themed mobile for a friend who is expecting. I looked at a number of starter kits, but decided on this one because it included a wool mat instead of foam. Also, I noticed the same company sells larger packs of individual colors, which I thought would come in handy if I ran out of any particular color mid-project. And, most other kits did not include un-dyed core wool, which I liked the idea of since it would make the colors last longer.The kit comes in a soft plastic zippered case, which is great for storage. It comes with instructions for how to make the owl. Mine came out a bit wonky, but I think pretty good for a first attempt! I thought I would need to find instructions for how to make a penguin, but after making the owl, I felt confident in winging it, and designed the penguins to match the ones printed on the crib bedding my friend selected. However, I would probably search for some instructions online before attempting anything that deviates too far from the owl's body shape. The core wool was enough to make the owl + 4 egg-shaped penguin bodies, each about 3-inches tall. I have enough of each color to make 2 black penguins and 2 gray, with plenty left over.In conclusion, this kit had everything I needed for the project I had in mind, plus many more colors to inspire future projects. I'm excited about my new hobby and will certainly purchase from this company again for any future needle felting needs.

There is a great selection of different wools. The needles are excellent and I love the felting pad as it's much nicer than most of the ones included with cheaper kits. It was a bit expensive but worth the money imo.

Everything you need to begin felting. Beautiful colors, quality product. LOVED making these palm sized cuties for my first. Very therapeutic and gratifying! I will be sending this kit in the future to family so they can try something new and fall in love with felting too! No crafting talent needed to enjoy. I also like that the carrying case has just enough room to slide an additional felting book in the side too when you are on the go and working on a project. This is also great for car trips, long plane rides etc.
