Select The Right Spacer
Due to the variation in the size of the security slots on various notebook models, you may find that there is some slack between the lock and the computer. Then we provide three sizes of spacers for your choice: 0.5mm, 1.0mm, and 1.5mm.

I was not aware that different security slots have different sizes. This lock is just a little large for my computer and I don't want to use the sticker thing to glue the lock down. Anyway with some effort I got this lock to work. I have to remind myself that these are just deterrents anyway. It won't take a lot for someone to defeat the lock with some basic hand tools. As a deterrent, this will work to slow someone down but it won't be able to actually stop them.

This lock was relatively easy to install. It was a tad long so the first time into the slot was a little bit of a challenge. The length was just a bit longer than the slot I was trying to put it in. It took several tries, then everything worked OK. Maybe it was the lock, or maybe it was the slot I was trying to put this lock into. Either way, it wasn't "plug-and-play", at least not right away.The only issue was turning the dials. Until it loosened up a bit, turning one dial inevitably turned the adjacent ones. After using it a few times it works just fine. It is easy to reprogram, so at least I could get a new code quickly.I don't know how secure this lock is, but at least it is a deterrent.

The cable itself it is strong and long perfect to attach to other secure points. Setting a code is super simple, it comes with instructions so its easy to change with three simple steps. If your device does not come with the lock port like your computer then it comes with a super sticky sticker that has the lock port and helps with devices like Ipads or phones to keep him secure. Overall highly recommend if you are looking for a strong and safe secure computer lock to keep your devices secure.

Son stuck it on the dead laptop and now it is useless. Should be able to move to a new computer without problems.....

This lock works very well, and I would give it 4 stars if I were to use the stick-on lock slot.The quality of the lock is pretty good, not easy to break but being a small lock, it would not take much effort to break it. I wanted to use this with my computers built in key slot but the lock it too large for this use. I have a slim lightweight laptop and putting a something that sticks out on the back is not an acceptable solution for me.I also do not find something that connectors to your device via a 3M sticker to be acceptable security, I took a star off for this.

I got this because of the double sided adhesive lock slot plate. My new laptop surprisingly does not have a security slot. This one sticks on to the laptop so I can use the security cable to lock it. As a deterrent, it's a good fix.The listing includes 'spacers" too which were confusing to me until I read the instructions that came in the box. The spacers have nothing to do with the adhesive lock plate. They stick to your laptops existing security slot to make the security lock fit tighter and not wobble. I've never found that necessary but it that bugs you, this is a nice fix.The locking mechanism is solid too. Setting the combination was straightforward and worked well. Locking/unlocking it works well too.
