The Control Devices ball-type check valve provides tight sealing, and can be used as a tank check valve for small compressors or as a component in pneumatic circuits. The valve body is made of brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability. Brass can be connected to copper, brass, plastic, aluminum, and welded steel. Fluorocarbon O-rings provide higher temperature and chemical resistance. It has female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on one end and male NPT threads on the other for connecting a male and a female threaded pipe. The NPT threads create a tighter seal than straight threads. The maximum pressure rating is 250 pounds per square inch (psi), and the maximum temperature is 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

Check valves have two ports and restrict the flow of fluids and other loose materials through a pipe or passageway to one direction. Flow enters through one port and exits through the other, closing when flow reverses or stops. Two common types of check valves are ball cone valves and swing check valves. A ball cone valve utilizes a spring-loaded ball seated against a cone-shaped interior surface to stop the flow of fluid in a forward direction, and a swing check valve has a movable disc on a hinge to block reverse flow. Check valves are rated by their cracking pressure (the minimum upstream pressure required for the valve to operate), and they are used in various water, gas, air, and steam lines.

Control Devices manufactures specialty valves, nozzles, and condensate traps. The company, founded in 1963 and headquartered in Fenton, MI, meets ASME standards.

My sump pump drain pipe used to make “glug, glug” noises as the water drained after the pump shut off. Adding this to the top of the pipe eliminates that. When the pump shuts off you can hear this valve open allowing air in behind the water leaving the pipe.

The check valve between the water pump and the heater in my mytee unit went bad a week after I got it. Rather than send it back I thought I'd be faster to fix it myself. This part worked well and did the trick!

Just what I needed for a fill port on my 40 gallon auxiliary tank for my air compressor. I built an remote aux air tank out of an old gas water heater tank to use as a secondary remote tank for my 4hp air compressor. Fitted the tank with regulator, dryer, oilier, safety valve, tank gauge & regulator gauge, dump valve for water drainage, and needed to make a fill port. I was using a small manual valve which soon became a PITA having to remember to open and close it when filling. My old original tank on the compressor leaks, so wanted to be able to shut the aux tank off also so it wouldn't bleed back through the leaky original tank. So, I chose this check valve to replace the manual fill valve. Works very well, and was sufficiently fast enough to fill the 40 gal aux tank. Filled it from zero to 110 psi in about 5 minutes, so that is good enough for me. Seems to hold well for now. Seems to be well made.

I use these at a car wash and for the price they work pretty well.

I used this on small air tanks that blasts air (called halloween air cannons). I install the check valve just behind the solenoid and it keeps the air in the tank and going in one direction. My tanks are usually under 100 psi so these work great. Never had any issues. Highly recommended...
