This is so cool! I have zero interest in this item as a talisman or religious symbol, but as someone who majored in history (mediaeval, but some study of the ancients, as well) and who has always had a soft spot for steampunk, this pendant/pull was a must.It is exceptionally detailed and well-crafted, and the hinged elytron is an unexpected and extremely fun feature. The bead is rubbish--just something dyed to vaguely resemble turquoise--but I had planned to replace that with a genuine lapis lazuli bead anyway. The bi-coloured bronze is a pleasing touch, and the piece definitely has some weight to it.I'm severely metal allergic and will have to be careful how I wear this, but I look forward to putting it on a cord for a necklace, or perhaps using it as a zipper pull. There are so many ways one could use this, and I love that it's so versatile! Highly recommended for anyone fascinated with history!

I really like this scarab pendant. It has a cool hinge to access the stone. The turquoise is only color and is most likely howlite and not genuine turquoise, but I didn't expect it to be either for the price. I may replace it with something else that is real. The pendant design and construction with the hinges is very good. This does have a bit of weight due to the materials used. This does not have a chain, so be ready to add your own. I'm adding this to an amber necklace that I am making. This will be a conversation piece for sure. I really like it a lot.
