Very impressive tool. Took down an old metal shed and chicken wire with ease. Great tool to have. Very easy to use. Your friends will be begging to borrow it for their projects ðŸ˜

Works great, used to cut some embossed 26 gauge sheet metal, cuts a clean straight line with minimal distortion on the right side panel. The variable speed options are handy, and it will cut quickly even when at a low speed.

This is an impressive tool. I was surprised at how heavy it was. I tried it on various gauges of sheet metal. Easily cut thin aluminum, and 16 gauge steel. Also worked very well on corrugated cardboard. I sometimes make cardboard templates to check fit before I cut actual parts. It will be handy for this.My Mikita batteries fit easily on the tool. I have had experience with Mikita batteries not fitting well on tools that are not Mikita, but no problems with this tool.I am not certain what is meant by the 2 speed settings in the description. Mine has a variable speed trigger with far more than two speed settings.I don’t really understand what they mean in the description about 360 degrees rotating cutting head also referred to in the description as a pivoting head. The cutting head on mine does not swivel or rotate. The instructions do not address this feature, and I couldn’t find how one might release the cutting head to swivel. The description might mean that one can take the head off the motor, and re-install it at a rotated position, but I did not want to take the tool apart to find out if this is the case. I’m not certain why one would need this feature or want the head to swivel, but if it is important to you, beware.I can’t speak to durability, but overall, I’m quite satisfied with this tool.

This is the way to cut sheet metal. After using this you won't go back. Five stars. It has two speeds. The base is like what I've seen on impact wrenches, with a button that controls settings for 3 forward speeds, or 2 modes of reverse: keep spinning, or stop when resistance is overcome. With this base, it seems the button is disabled. So there's only forward and reverse, and since both of them just drive the cutter up and down, they amount to two speeds. The two directions, selectable with the usual thing that you push through the middle of the tool, select two speeds. The base has a brushless motor and does seem strong. It fits my Makita format batteries perfectly.I have a similar cutting head without the drill base. The advantage is that I can control the speed of the drill more precisely, because I have a very good drill. The disadvantage is that I have to pair it with a drill and chuck it in, and the combination is heavier and bulkier than this all in one tool I am reviewing here.I'll probably use this tool unless I need to dial in a slower speed than is available here.

The only point of reference I have for how well this tool works is a set of high quality hand tools for sheet metal cutting. Compared with them the tool cuts like a hot knife through butter. I wish I had this tool long before ordering it. Like any tool guy I had to try it out and see how well it worked. After a minute to get used to the cutting action I spent 5 messing around to see how well it would cut curves (straight lines are easy) and I was not disappointed. It was simple and easy to use. For some reason cutting out a pineapple shape seemed like a good idea so I did.The tool itself is sturdy and in the hand it feels of similar quality to my name brand tools at a fraction of the price. It cuts fast and smoothly. Into the job trailer it goes waiting to cut everything from z-flashing to the occasional piece of metal roofing I need for a cricket or shed.

How stupid is it to sell this without a battery.

I saw this and figured why not. I have a couple of Makita batteries and occasionally need a tool to cut sheet metal. This tool is well made, nicely finished and packed well. To test it I took a scrap of aluminum sheet and marked a straight line with a sharpie. I then made a test cut and it was easy enough to follow the line and make a nice cut. It has a light and a small indicator for battery strength too.Overall impressed with this tool. If you need a shear, this is not a bad choice.
