This strainer is nice and robust. It should hold up to most all suction strainer duties typically found at home. The thread *can* fit onto a typical US garden hose, but the threads are slightly different. You *can* get it on, but it's not the correct thread. It will go on, and will stay on, and will work great. The thread for this strainer is listed as "3/4-14". A typical garden hose is "3/4-11.5 NH". It'll fit, and will work ok, but the threads won't line up properly. Here's more on garden hose threads: This standard thread size is the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard for garden hose fitting thread size, which is ¾”–11.5 NH or NHR. NH stands for American Standard Hose Coupling Threads of Full Form (used for a standard machined thread), and NHR stands for American Standard Hose Coupling Threads for Garden Hose Applications (used for rolled or formed threads such as Swan’s rolled male thread).

My husband uses this on the end of the hose to drain water off our pool cover- it prevents leaves and debris from going into the hose.

Works great for a replacement, the metal is way more durable than the original plastic one.

First pick-up screen for a hose that actually fit a HOSE! Ordered and returned a number of different items that said it was for a garden hose (none were!), this is last one as it actually is threaded for garden hose/bibb connections. Quality seems fine too.

I use on small pump just clean out screen immediately after use or it's hard to remove debris without damaging screen.

This strainer fits well on the hose end and keeps out all the junk wanting to clog your pump.

I use this for the intake side of a water transfer pump. The screen is sized to keep the bad stuff out of the pump. It has 3/4 npt thread. I used an adapter to switch it to garden hose thread. Appears well constructed and durable.

Need to pump water from a pond to a garden without sucking up floating vegetation. I put this on the end of the intake hose and it works just fine.
