This is a commercial-quality air hose reel, made in the USA. It's fair to say it's expensive, but in person, the quality is self-evident: A one-piece, quarter-inch thick steel mounting plate/reel support arm; an eighth-inch thick, ribbed-steel guide bracket, adjustable in 45-degree steps; easily replaceable O-rings in the hub pressure swivel; a replaceable spring canister, and a high-quality 50-ft 3/8" air hose. I'm using this in a home shop setting, and struggled with whether the extra cost was justified.Frankly, I'm tired of buying products manufactured abroad to meet a price-point some marketing executive decided was optimal to meet market demand and ensure his annual bonus. I want to encourage manufacturing -- and jobs -- in this country. We all pay lip service to this, but to actually achieve it, we also have to put our money where our mouth is (an expression, by the way, that's almost as old as COXREELS, who've been in business in Arizona since 1923).A final comment: Pay particular attention to mounting this hose reel, especially in a ceiling/wall configuration. It's 40+ lbs, and people are going to be pulling on it too.Addendum (08/01/2022): I was inflating a tire on my wife's car just now and as I retracted 70 feet of air hose into the reel, listening to the satisfying release clicks and watching the hose spool neatly back inside, I realized this reel has become "invisible". I haven't had to think about it in two years -- it just works. No air leaks, no hose jams, no problems at all. It's been well worth the money.

This reel is a grownup gift to my inner child. I've wanted one of these for years. Now I have one. So what if I drained the kid's college fund. They're young. They have plenty of time to pay off those student loans.For years I've used a loose hose that I'd roll up in loops and store in my shed. Not any more. This thing is actually really heavy duty. This is commercial grade. The reel is smooth in both directions. The reel the locks are evident with a clear click. Releasing the lock is also easy.I'm a driveway mechanic with a few air tools and 14 tires to keep pressurized. Admittedly, this thing is overkill. But it's really well made and will most likely outlast me.The unit comes assembled, ready to hang. Installation can be a one-person job. It was for me. But two people would make it easier. Be sure to unreel as much of the hose as you can before trying to mount it. No need to remove the hose - simply unreel it. That move will reduce the weight and make installation easier. AND, once the hose is unreeled and locked be careful how you handle it. If you hold the reel itself (not just the base) and unlock the reel, you'll have a 50' of hose coming back at you.Where you mount it will need to be substantial. Mine is under my carport. The posts are nominally 2x6 and to get the proper reeling action I needed to mount it on the 2" dimension. I ended up scabbing a piece of 4x4 to get a sturdy mount.

In your home/shop, a hose reel is definitely very useful. This is a very heavy duty unit. While the unit comes adequately packaged for sale at a store, it is not adequately packaged for sale by amazon. Amazon needs to cushion the mfg packaging. My unit came damaged, to the point that the swivel actually leaked more than the old Chinese reel it was replacing. I was able to scrounge up some new o-rings and replace them and it works fine now. Cox was kind enough to send me some new o-rings for it. Also damaged in shipping was some sort of plastic spring/retainer that goes in the center. I could not tell that the damage was causing any performance issues so I decided to mount it on the wall and get on with life. The reel works very very good.

This is a commercial grade air hose reel. No cheap plastic parts - it’s all heavy duty. Only complaint is poor packaging (swivel Air fitting damaged). And the rubber hose stop was Over-tightened leading to flow restrictions. Hose took a permanent set from the stop being so tight. Also, the hose is PCV, which is a major downgrade from rubber / EPDM. Listing did not clearly indicate hose material.

This is a nearly perfect hose reel. All parts in contact with the fluid (air or water) are brass, and will not rust or corrode. The swivel seal is a simple O-ring that is easily replaced when it wears out. I have 3 of these reels, with the oldest being at least 15 years old. I have replaced its O-ring only once, and found it surprisingly easy to do without any major disassembly of the reel. The spring motor and latching mechanism work very well. I have had some cheap Chinese reels before, and by comparison they are pure junk. The Coxreel should last my lifetime at least. It is well worth the extra cost.

The is an amazing hose reel. It is extremely well made and the input for the hose line is serious business. This has 3/8" connectors, but it was a simple matter to reduce both ends to 1/4". Home Depot had all of the parts necessary.This is not an inexpensive hose reel, but then again it is not an inexpensive hose reel. Quality costs a little extra, but it is money well spent.It has very positive hose retraction. There is no need to spend the extra money for the EZ Reel version.Prior to this purchase, I purchased a less expensive (in this case cheaper) Tekton reel. I returned it and spent the money money for this excellent reel.

I bought this reel on March 8th. I was finishing my trailer so it literally sat for approximately two months. I use it on three job. On the 4th job, I blew a hole in it. And the seller haven’t even responded back to my emails. Buyer beware of product and seller.

We bought this for my husband, a real garage guy! Absolutely 6 star quality and you will never need to buy another. This is it! Works exactly as described in video. We love that fact it is truly American made. I will seek out this company for future purchases for sure. Paint quality and ease of use are exactly what you picture when you think of well made quality made in USA. Highly recommend!!!

C’est Un cadeau pour mon fils.Qu’il a reçu en retard à cause de poste Canada. J’ai Reçu l’article Endommagé. Mais la compagnie Coxreels m’a envoyé une pièce neuve rapidement. Merci.C’est de très bonne qualité. Fonctionne très bien c’est Plus que du bonbons.
