I researched the Internet extensively for a couple of months looking for the perfect kitchen island. I visited every store that I even suspected might carry them in hopes of finding one locally. In the end, this island appeared to be the best solution. I found it to be AMAZING! I've assembled my share of furniture and found the instructions for this piece the best I've ever seen - very detailed and easy to follow. I actually ENJOYED the assembly process and wouldn't even let my husband help! The island is very high quality and beautiful. I have received compliments from everyone who has seen it. Provides a nice amount of storage, and thanks to critiques by some reviewers, I looked for and easily found silverware storage containers at Walmart that fit the drawers.The one possible "negative" turned into a positive! The granite countertop had a noticeable flaw and I really was not looking forward to trying to rectify the situation. The company made it incredibly easy! I provided a photo, they agreed to replace the top, and did so in a very reasonable time. Until then, I did use the flawed one, so no use time was lost. Additionally, they did not require me to repackage and return - a real plus as it is large and REALLY HEAVY - which is a good thing as long as you don't have to return it! My experience with the product and the company will keep me coming back and recommending it to others.

Over all I am pretty happy with the cabinet. The side cupboards are narrower than I expected so really limit what can be stored in them and the drawers don't go all the way to the back of the cabinet so they are a little short. I had hoped to store place mats in the drawers but they don't fit. There is a plastic smell but it was gone in a few days. My husband put it together in a couple of hours.....there are lots and lots of parts. This is not a fine piece of furniture that will be passed down in our family for generations but for the money it's a nice sturdy cabinet that fits well in my kitchen.

First thing to note is that this is not some lightweight cheap product, it has some real weight to it, I think the unit weighs in at around 45lbs and the top about 40lbs.Put this together with my Dad, we did have a couple of mis steps, mainly choosing the wrong screws in the first step.Construction took around 4 hours including having to dismantle a large part to recover the screws we needed elsewhere! All wooden parts are labeled, however so that is a huge aid, no need to guess.Once constructed do NOT try to move it by the granite top, the connection will keep it on the unit fine but as I mentioned, the unit itself is also heavy so I ended up ripping the top right off.We were able to reseat it just fine and it looks great now.No regrets, lovely piece to have in the kitchen, we were in severe lack of work surface. Not sure how easy it would be to move it to a new house though.

The front looks great. The back however, is paper cardboard thin. It really brings down my overall satisfaction. If you’re putting this against the wall you’ll be fine. I should have made my own with a kitchen cabinet base. It would be sturdier and last longer.

On the positive side. It was easy to assemble. And it's a nice looking kitchen island.Negative: The stainless steel top scratches easily. The middle of the cabinet separates from the stainless steel top over the period of a few months. Because of this the top draws bend downward and towards the middle, making it difficult to open the doors at the bottom.My opinion, the bolt that holds the cabinet to the stainless steel top is not of sufficient strength and the cabinet top being composed of compressed wood does not help. I hired someone to remedy the issue and was told that it can not be fixed.I contacted Amazon. As per the manufacturer, I was told to return the Island. However, we had to disassemble it. Which was very tedious. I had to get a box that this large item could fit in. And then have UPS pick it up.They did refund us. But they charged a little over $67 restocking fee. Overall, it was a bad experience. We were excited when we first got the Crosley Furniture LaFayette Kitchen Island with Stainless Steel Top - White. We eventually realized that it was of poor quality. We are disappointed. If they made it strong enough, we wouldn't have had any issue with the cabinet.We ended up purchasing a custom made one from Raymour and Flanigan that is made of actual wood.

Very happy with this island! Looks very good and more durable than I expected. I was originally going to buy something handmade and already assembled. After price checking, I quickly realized I wouldn’t be paying those high prices.As with any “assemble yourself†item the direction were a bit confusing for me , between myself and my husband it wasn’t too bad. Just take your time and don’t rush.We opted for the stationary feet and not the wheels. I feel that gives it a better look. But it comes with both.I see what others say about the drawers not opening all the way. It seems like it will be fine though, just takes some getting used to.For the money it’s a great item!! No regrets here!!

Dowels are too small. They wobble around and some barely meet their purpose. There should be instructions to add glue to dowels and some sections. This would make the unit a lot sturdier. I added glue to dowels and panels. This made the unit much firmer once the glue had dried.Lots of pieces to put together and it can be overwhelming IF you think it will take an hour. Plan on several hours and it won’t feel overwhelming. Diagrams could be a lot clearer, just expand the drawing so 2 or 3 things are not on top of each other.Overall, I am satisfied and saved $1000-1500.

This island was just what I was looking for. It looks exactly the same as pictured which says a lot as it looks great in the photos. The unit is of excellent quality and I would recommend it to anyone.
