C.S. Osborne & Company, Harrison NJDurable - have owned & used this awl for decades. Just bought a new one for home use and it looks perfect + USA made.The awl is model # 62012 & advertised as having a 2 1/2 inch blade/metal point, but neither my original awl nor the new one measures out at 2 1/2 inches. My old one is 2 3/8" (just under 2 1/2") & the new one is 2 7/8" well over 2 1/2 inches. Not a big deal to me, but not as advertised either. The yellow handles look identical in size.

This thing is stout as all get-out and when I touched the tip I had flashbacks to last summer's wasp fiasco. It's getting a thumbs-up for sheet metal work, impromptu water bottle squirt guns (poke a hole in the cap, duh), and as the most horrifying self-defense object.If you need to poke plastics too soft for a drill, this'll do. It'd go through leather no problem. I won't use it to pick o-rings off of fasteners or out of carburetors as it's just too sharp for that. Very pleased though, and glad I bought it. Upholsterers get some neat toys, and C.S.Osborne is up to snuff with my more premium automotive tools without being pretentious -- the resin handle is great.

These awls are the standard in the sailmaking industry.I bought this one because I needed another.I'll be buying more.Tonight ill be punching holes in leather.This weekend I'll be using this to remove wood bungs on a boat I'm renovating.

Seems to be a high quality tool, but smaller than I expected. The sizing is cryptic, I did finally find the size in the reviews after I received it. I will be keeping it because it does seem to be high quality, but I now need to purchase another larger tool for my specific purposes.
