I'm deeply satisfied with the price and quality of these glowsticks. I bought the box of 24 so I could have some on hand for emergencies, but I have three kids too so I broke open three of them and passed them out. It was a good test for brightness and utility as we turned out all the lights and the kids ran around the house with them. You can read with the light from these sticks, and you can see enough of the area around you to safely travel or find what you're looking for. I don't think you can ask for more from a plastic tube full of chemicals. The yellow sticks are fairly comfortable to read by, I suspect that might not be the same result from some of the other colors. Over time I'm sure my kids will use these up, once I get down to 12 or so I'll buy more. There really isn't any better recommendation than "I'll buy more of those." so I give these 5 stars.

These glow sticks are great, and they have a million-and-one uses. I buy a box of 20 light sticks every year or two, depending on how quickly I use them. I keep them in drawers throughout my house, in case of a sudden blackout. You can never find a flashlight when you need one (especially in the dark). These are inexpensive enough that you can keep one or two in every room of your house for emergencies. I always keep a couple in the glove compartment of my car, a couple in my household first aid kit, and several in my disaster preparedness kit (a.k.a. bug-out bag). They always come in handy during Halloween for trick-or-treating, and exploring corn mazes after dark. They're useful (and fun) for any kind of activity after dark... parties, camping, music festivals... you name it. They glow for a long time, and generate a reasonable amount of light. This is a "must have" item for everyone.

There really is no replacement for Cyalume chem/glow sticks. Many other glow sticks work well, but don't have the brightness or the longevity of this brand. In context to other Cyalume glow sticks, these are not as bright as the green ones, but serves it's purpose well. I normally use green for general use (camping, backpacking, power outages, etc) and yellows more for a "warning" or "caution", as I did in this case. On a side note, orange or red does not create enough light unless it's really dark. I would highly recommend this particular band. That being said, yellow is not ideal if you're looking for brightness.

I’m going to give the product itself a five star only because I’ve used Cyalume brand sticks before and I know they are a quality product for marking, signaling etc.The only thing I’m not a fan of is his they were shipped. They were just in a plastic bag with no protection. The only way to know if a chem light was activated due to being bent it impacted during shipping is to open all the chem light packaging which is something I don’t want to do. Fingers crossed on none of these being activated already.

We've used these every time the power has gone out. They're bright enough to skip using a flashlight and nice to leave in a bathroom and hallway for lighting in an emergency. I haven't timed them for the 12 hour duration claim but imagine that if they do last that long it'll be pretty soft light for the last few hours. The 2 to 4 hour power outages we've had weren't long enough to notice much of a dimming so they're a great addition to our emergency kit. Lighter than flashlights and no worries about burned out or broken bulbs or you're batteries going out. I've watched enough monster movies to know you should never rely on a flash light ;-)

Update: Ordered replacement, arrived halfway expired again. Very disappointing.---I’m sure the product is excellent but the sticks I received came nearly 2.5 years into their 5 year shelf life. And worse, air escapes from every single one of the foil packets with gentle squeezing. No pops or bursts, just leaking air, which defeats the whole point of being wrapped in foil to preserve shelf life. Very disappointed. I requested a replacement so I hope this batch is an exception.

I buy these every spring to keep around the house during hurricane season. I’ve lost power a few times over the years and these work great around the house to give some light to each room. They don’t give off a ton of light, but it’s sufficient to light up a small bathroom. Or use a few for larger rooms. One year I started giving these out on Halloween to trick or treaters. I figured, rather than wondering if they would expire and/or lose their strength the years in storage, I could give them out on Halloween! It lines up perfectly with the end of hurricane season. I keep a few just in case but they’ve become a hit. I think the kids like them more than the candy!

Buy these mostly for power outages but sometimes when the kids have sleepovers I pass them out for night time fun (though there are certainly cheaper options, you get what you pay for in terms of how long they last and how bright they are). They really do last and give off a good level of brightness. So far I have tried the Yellow (favourite for brightness), green (kids favourite), orange and blue (blue does not throw much light but has its purposes).

I've bought these a few times, they're a great product. Same quality as used by the military. I use them mostly as night lights for my kids on camping trips or during power outages. Way cheaper to buy in bulk rather than 2 packs at camping stores.

Gives off a decent amount of light and honestly I think I'm probably getting 14 hours maybe even 16, not quite as bright as the green ones but still useful.

Bright. Easy to carry. They actually lasted more than advertised. Good price. Overall, happy with this purchase.
