I bought this because my old trusty generator had lost compression (carbon under intake valve). I weighed the pros and cons of rebuilding the head and decided on this option. I was afraid the head gasket would be damaged but it wasn’t. But the gasket is a little bit different. The original gasket has “reliefs” for the valves (if that makes sense)whereas this one is just larger inside diameter”bore” so a possible loss of compression I’m sure not much though. Valve cover baffle was rattling so I reused the old one. Head fit great but rocker studs were a little loose so I tightened them then proceeded with valve adjustment. Installed the carburetor that came with the kit along with the cheap spark plug. The old generator fired right off and since it had idle control carburetor needed a little tweaking on idle circuit but ran great! If you’re questioning whether to buy this do it, if you’re worried about the head gasket buy the original gasket.

I bought this as a backup for a GX340 generator motor, which I'm swapping into a go kart. At first I just wanted a spare carb, but when I saw this kit I figured it was worth it to have an entire top end kit.Only con is that there were a few small marks on the machined surface of the head, but nothing that the gasket shouldn't make up for. We're not running nitrous or boost.... yet.IMO this is a smart item to keep around for the future, or if you plan on modifying one of these engines for higher output.

After doing the cylinder head swop with this kit. You can feel the instant power and don't realize how much power you lost until you install this kit.

Was leery because it is so inexpensive (reluctant to say cheap). Bolted trigger up, adjusted valves and works just fine. Motor is on a concrete saw so it gets worked HARD!
