I was using the Helicor pizzicato string for my Palatino ve500. The first set was too long so I tried the 1/2 size set and they where also to long. They had a great sound but they where just not right for my bass. So I ordered a set of the NS Traditional 3/4 medium bass strings. Not only do they fit great (the Palatino ve500 has a 40 1/2" string length) but because they are 41 3/4" string length they fit perfectly, and they sound great. I modified my bass by using a cut down ebony tail piece and change the electronics. Which got as close to an acoustic upright bass as you can get. After adding these strings it put the sound over the top. Of course the bass will never be 100% upright sounding but I've got it at least 95%. The D'addario NS Traditional strings made the difference. Great strings.

These are a massive upgrade from the stock strings in every way. They sound better, both pizz and arco, they feel better, they stay in tune better and they bow better. My biggest complaint with my NXT 4 was the bowed sound was thin and the E string was hardly useable with the bow. Now, I get those fantastic, thundering lows with the bow. I couldn't be happier with this set of strings. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

Strings are great quality. However, they did not fit my upright bass even though D'addario's customer service told me they would.

The string was developed specifically for the NS design, CR5M electric upright bass. However, because of the string windings, it doesn’t fit, and you have to unwind the string windings in order to get it to fit through the ferrule. Of all of the tiny details to have missed, how did this one slip through the cracks, rearing its ugly head every time you have to replace this expensive string? It seemed odd to have to remove the beautiful winding from the string in order to make it work. Once I did, it was fantastic and is perfect.

What a HUGE difference! Fantastic sound and feel. This set of strings made the NS Design NXTa really enjoyable to play. Worth every penny.

I only bought one string for upright electric NS 4-string. Wound from 1st thru 3 fret which causes a buzz. Possibly bought wrong item. Unsure.

These are such an unbelievable upgrade to the strings that ship on the NXT! The feel just talking them out of the envelope is soo different. They are almost buttery compared to the stock strings and if you are planning on playing Arco they respond way better to a bow.

This set of bass strings arrived promptly after ordering. The thin box they came in was seriously crushed but the strings seem okay protected by their envelopes.
