How to read the meter?
8 digit register counter. The 1st digit from the right is in one tenth gallons (*0.1 gallons). The dial is in one hundredth gallons(*0.01 gallons). if you see 0000123.4 on register, it is 123.4 gallons.

Back Flow Prevention Valve
You must have back-flow-prevention valve in your piping system, or the reading of CO-10, Cell phone/PC may be more than the reading of water meter due to the backflow. Non-Return-Valves (like NRVAS-75 for AS200U-75) are available in DAE Controls Website, an in-expensive backflow prevention valve to be installed at the outlet of water meter.
UL2464 Shielded Twisted Pair Cable with Drain Wire, 24 AWG
To securely transfer metering data for DAE Cloud Metering Solutions on Water, please use UL2464 cable to extend connection between water meters (have about 4 ft pulse cable) and AMR130AN, or reading of Cell phone/PC may be more than the reading of meter due to exterior interference. With UL2464 cable, connection between meter, AMR130AN can be extended at least 328 ft, and at least 2000 ft between CC2030 and AMR130AN.

I simply needed a solid, quality meter to put on a garden hose. Searches always resulted in either A) Cheap plastic meters or B) $100+ metal meters. This was like 40 bucks and is *extremely* solid and well made. It works perfectly. I measured the accuracy and it is accurate. Keep in mind that with this meter you: 1) Will have to buy the adapters for the garden hose, 2) need to lay this device flat while it is in use (I haven't tried tilting it to see what the effect is but was just following their instructions) and 3) Realize that this is a "forward only" meter so you can't reset it with each use so you will have to make note of the reading before use and do a tiny bit of math. I knocked a star of the "Easy to read" because the meter comes with parts/adapters you may not use and the instructions don't make it clear which to use to connect to the hose.

This meter arrived quickly, and in good shape. It's made of heavy brass (as it should be) and feels like good quality. I've seen a lot of other reviews complaining about the fittings -- and people having difficulty with making good plumbing connections... to which I would say "probably user error". In a former life, I worked as a small water system operator for several years -- and I have experience with this type of water meter. The fittings on this model are standard. You'll want to be sure to use the 2 brass 'adapters' when you install the meter (they aren't 'optional'), and don't forget to put the rubber washers in when you attach them to the meter inlet and outlet ports. After that, you'll have brass male threads pointing in both directions (upstream and downstream) from your new meter -- and these threads are in the nominal size you specified when ordering (mine are 1" male pipe threads or MPT). From here, you will need to purchase the appropriate fittings to connect to your plumbing, with a corresponding female pipe thread (FPT) in the same nominal size. For me, it was a pair of 1" PVC couplings, slip x FPT -- because I was adding the meter into a section of 1" PVC pipe. [Please note: connecting brass or metal MPT into plastic FPT is never recommended, because the plastic fitting can crack as you tighten into it. I did it very carefully.]I have had the meter in service for about a month now (3500 gallons) and everything appears to be working properly. Never did an accuracy test -- but other reviewers have said it's pretty darned accurate, which is good enough for my purposes.Don't overlook the warnings about orientation... I guess this meter MUST be installed horizontally and flat, with the dial facing up. I don't know what happens if you do something different. And I don't want to know.Good luck! :)

Great little meter for the money. I bought it to measure the water used by my new water filtration system. Filters need to be replaced when so many gallons are used. Since only drinking water is purified, I needed a way to monitor the amount going through the system.This is a well made, solid brass lead free meter, and can read to 0.01 gallons. You may say "why do I need to measure to the 0.01 gallon?" Well, you certainly do not have to, but this feature can tell you if you have even a very small leak. The wheel spins at the slightest fluctuation in water flow, backwards or forwards.It also was easy to install with no leakage problems.

Bought this one to replace crappy save a drop ones I had before. So far working great, and I have no doubt will last longer than the previous water meters I bought. Shipping was expensive but hopefully pays for its in quality.
