Daedalus 3040 Y-axis extension kit

By replacing the extension kit, you can quickly upgrade and expand the potential of your 3018cnc, and expand your previous working area to 320*370mm, which is amazing! It is very suitable for making longer plaques, signs, or large stock materials for multiple cuts.
NOTE: Your 3018 CNC should be equipped with
- ∅8 mm T8 Lead Screw
- ∅10 mm Guide Rail
- No Counterbore on the End Plates for Rails

Firstly, try to use the extension kit to extend the Y axis from 290 mm to 450 mm!

How to assemble the extension kit?
1. Disassemble
- Remove all wires connecting to your CNC.
- Unscrew the gantry assembly from the base.
- Take apart the gantry and the base.
2. Base assembly
- Remove the screws of the base, and then remove the original aluminum extrusions, linear guides and lead screws.
- Replace them with the aluminum extrusions, linear guides and lead screws of the extension kit, and reassemble the base
- Install the knob
3. Gantry assembly
- Remove the screws of the gantry, and then remove the original lead screw.
- Replace the lead screw with the longer one, then reassemble the gantry
- Install the knob
- Reinstall the gantry to the base, and the upgrade is complete.

My biggest point of contention with the 3018 was its obnoxiously "just smaller than A4" work area. It prevented a lot of projects from happening simply because a lot of downloaded plans were all formatted to fit an A4 sheet. This kit solves this problem.Easy and straightforward assembly with the included instructions, no missing parts, and everything fit snug and square.The only remark I can make is that it does raise the worked up a few mm. Not the end of the world, but my gantry is modified from the stock 3018 gantry, and this caused a clearance issue with my z-axis. It was a manageable fix and an isolated situation, but something to keep in mind.

All parts included to extend this cnc were present. Quality of materials was good making assembly easy.If I ever build one of these machines gain I would order this kit once more.

4.5 starsI purchased this for my Genmitsu. It was not a direct fit but with some minor modifications to the Genmitsu parts, and assembly I made it work. None of that is Daedalus fault.It's a hair cheaper then the competitor, same quality, and comes with a little more. Flexible couplers, Lead screw adjustment caps, and a longer Y Axis lead screw for use with adjustment cap.I do not believe in 5 stars for just a good product, and neither should you. A product that does what is says at the average price is an an average product, That's 3 stars and there's nothing wrong with that. If everything is 5 star, then there's nothing actually great out there!1 Terrible, immediate return2 Works, but is disappointing in more then one way3 Works as described and is priced fairly4 Either works better then described, or Works as described but at a better price.5 Combination of works better then described, has extra value/features, Top tier product, amazing value for money.

The setup with the increased bed size negates the y limit switches. No way to attach the original plate to the unit without modification to the product. Other than that it's a simple setup to increase the working area of your machine.

Awesome kit extended My 3018 pro to 12â€x 12â€The couplers you get with these things are awesome they’re cut almost like a spring so if it jams up a little bit it has some give to it, it doesn’t ruin your carve as easy, the knobs are a great improvement , saved my hands from getting dirty trying to turn the screw by hand or having to boot up the program or offline controller to set zero point or just to move it to set the clamps.Also my x axis screw that originally came with my 3018 wasn’t quite true and would sometimes bind and throw off my carve if my gantry was too tight, the new 8mm X and Y Axis screws were true and work great with all gantry screws fully tightened.A+ would recommend if your thinking of upgrading do it for sure you will be glad you did!

Does not fit Sainsmart 3018 MX3. This only fits 3018s without the recess for the Y axis guide rails (450mm). For 3018 MX3 or others with the recess you need 460mm guide rails if the extrusions are 450mm. Also be advised that extending the Y axis makes it more flexible and prone to chatter and inaccuracies. After seeing this I decided that if I am going to extend the Y axis I would invest in a different type of guide rails that are sturdier.
