These kinds of dehumidifiers come in really handy, especially in Hawaii. Putting one in a clothes closet, linen closet, panrty, or a storage room really helps keep items dry and fresh. We also have a safe, which without one of these causes papers to become limp and a source for mold to grow. With one of these inside, things stay nice and dry. I used another brand for quite awhile, but then I found these which are refillable. It is a big cost saver. Once the crystals have done their work, they turn into water which you dispose, then refill the tub. Beats the other type where you have to buy a whole new unit.

Easy to use. Just pour the stuff in the container tray and your ready to go. Water collects in the bottom of the container. I use it in the basement. Works well for me.

I've had a damp, musty moisture problem in my house for years. I saw Damp Rid advertised on a TV commercial and immediately went to Amazon to read reviews of the product. I was skeptical, hesitated for a couple of hours, but then decided to give it a try. I placed a container in each of my larger rooms and the bathrooms. Like most, I found it took almost a couple of weeks to notice the effect but I can now say Damp Rid works! I have been using it now for close to a couple of months; the musty, mildew orders that were a constant in my home are gone. I recommend this product highly.Tina Mari Combs

We put these canisters in our cottage every fall when we close up. They absorb the moisture and don't leak. They do the job of keeping the must out of the building. In the spring, I can just toss the liquid and recycle the containers when we open up. Easy peasy!

My son has a very damp dorm room. This is an easy addition to manage the odor and dampness. I probably didn't need 3 but it was easy to send to him.

Our walk-in master closet is very humid for some reason. Mold was starting to grow on our shoes and some clothing :( Placed one of these DampRid tubs in the closet and it has been sucking up moisture :) Now the air feels much less humid in the closet. Highly recommended.Not sure why others claim the product doesn't work - either the humidity level is very, very low so there isn't much moisture to be extracted from the air, or maybe they didn't take the crystals out of the bag? Given that the mechanism of action is a chemical reaction between the crystals and the water vapor in the air, it can't not work if used as directed.

So there are certain architects and home designers who thought putting the master closet INSIDE the master bathroom was a wonderful idea, and there is a special place in hell for those geniuses. The closet (even if you keep the door closed all the time) still gets a high degree of dampness inside it, and eventually, a mildew-y smell which also gets in your clothes. It may take 25 years, but trust me, it will happen once the house gets old enough and that bathroom gets filled up with steam enough times. I placed this on a shelf and within a couple of days the smell was gone. I re-laundered some of the smellier items (even though they'd also seemed to stop smelling once the Damp-Rid was put in) and put them back, and two weeks later they still smell fresh. I'll be buying refills when it's time to do so. This has been a lifesaver, since we won't be re-constructing our whole house to get our clothes closet somewhere dry, like in the bedroom.

These work great, but the last ones I ordered on Amazon the crystals appeared to have already been exposed to moisture as they were one big clump. So they are unusable. However, I can’t request a return because I didn’t realize it until opening one of the bags. Therefore, I do recommend the product, but might be better to order in store.
