In these instance you will need shower stem extensions to make up the difference. This stem extension provides additional length for tub/shower stems. It is compatible with hot and cold water applications.

This does not make the stem longer. It is only a direct replacement if your stem is broken.

The kit I received under this part number contained one o-ring, one stem extender and a standard replacement stem assembly.I was disappointed, for the money you can only alter one faucet handle, but happily, one was all that needed repair in my case.
