We have had one of these for 5 years + in our RV and have now found a use for additional ones in our storage buildings. They are fantastic where there is fluctuating temperatures and humidity issues. We have told several people about this and have given some as gifts to our RV friends. It is inexpensive to run and no danger of being burnt when you touch it accidentally. Everyone who has an RV should consider this product as an essential item!

I live in a ground-floor apartment where humidity is an issue, especially during summer. I have a dehumidifier in the bathroom, but for my closet and bedroom, I didn't want something that would collect water. This Davis dryer is perfect because I just plug it in and leave it on the floor of my closet. (I leave the door open during the day.) The surface doesn't get too hot, and because of the way the base is designed, it's safe for using on low-pile carpet. It makes NO NOISE. (I wasn't even sure it was on, at first, since there's no power switch—you just plug it in.) It's been plugged in 24/7 for the past 9 months or so, and it hasn't increased my energy bills by much.If you want a safe, low-tech, low-cost, effective way to combat mold and mustiness in smaller spaces, the Davis Air Dryr 500 is definitely the way to go.

I live fulltime in an RV and needed something to put in my outside access storage space to keep it above freezing. The space is probably 150 cu ft or so and the temps got down to the lower 20's for a couple months and the Air-Dryr kept the space at 35-36 degrees so it did what it needed to do. Granted, the storage space has opening doors on each side of the RV and neither door is well insulated so the fact that it never froze is testament in itself. The heater has no fan so is convection heat only but uses almost no power and because the surface doesn't get hot it is safe to use in an enclosed space. If I had it to do again I would order the Air-Dryr 1000 instead giving me a little more reserve if temps turned even colder but the heater itself worked very well, was safe, and I recommend it for small spaces like closets to keep the humidity and mold at bay.

I ordered 2 and had to send one back because it quit working. The one that I kept was located in a very small closet in my bunkhouse. The bunkhouse AC is not turned on unless someone is spending the night there. The unit warmed, but the humidity was still very high. I continued to use Damp Rid in the closet and had to refill as I always did. It is too late to return it, so I just unplugged the unit and put it away. I read the reviews prior to purchase, but the units did not work for me. Maybe because I am about 3 miles from the Texas Gulf Coast and we have very humid weather is the reason that it did not work for me. Although, some of the reviews stated they used it in beach houses.

I bought the small version of this to put in my Scamp travel trailer for the winter here near Seattle. It seems to work OK, but when I got it I realized that all it really is is just a tiny electrical resistance heater. There is no magic about it - it just heats the air slightly so it contains a bit more moisture instead of letting in condense out onto the surfaces. Just like an incandescent light bulb would do. I guess I was expecting something that pulled the moisture out of the air, like calcium chloride does. It's well enough made, but it reminds me a little of the idea of ordering a solar clothes dryer and getting a clothes line.

Je cherchais un truc pour éliminer le restant d'humidité qui persiste dans la douche après le squieege. Çà marche.

I have used these air circulators for several years and find more and more uses for them. In my seasonal cabin I have 3 placed around the inside to keep air moving and provide some warmth. I have 1 in the shed and also in the shed at my home in the city. I had used them in the basement of my home before it was finished. I gave 1 to a neighbour during a very cold winter when the air in his cabin was so cold and still, it got the air moving, provided a little warmth and kept the air dry.I even use them in the summer months to dry up moisture from cooking, boiling the kettle, washing dishes and bathing, etc while the Cavan in is closed until the next visit. Just a great product.

Doesn’t have a fan like the first one I bought (round silver one). We’ll see if it works as well.
