Quick Overview Dayton Audio BCE exciters produce sound through direct vibration of the bones in the head or are capable of converting surfaces into speakers via vibration when placed on materials such as desks, walls, doors, and many other materials. Product Highlights Creates sound using bone conduction Leaves ears free for increased listener safety Can be used as a mini tactile transducer when attached to substrates Wide 300 to 19,000 Hz frequency response 4 ohm impedance with 1W power handling Product Manuals / Spec Sheets / Downloads Dayton Audio BCE-1 Specification Sheet AddThis Sharing Buttons Share to FacebookFacebook Share to TwitterTwitter Share to MoreAddThis 3 Product Description Unlike conventional transducers that use moving air to produce sound around you, Dayton Audio BCEs (bone conducting exciters) convert the electrical signal into mechanical vibrations so clean, that the brain interprets the vibrating stimulus as excellent sound. Listeners ears are left free to remain aware of their surroundings, increasing personal safety. When used against materials such as cardboard, wood, steel, and plastics, the BCE operates much like a surface exciter, capable of moving mass to produce robust sound output; much like an invisible speaker! BCEs are excellent for unique OEM sound applications and for the experimenter, where conventional speakers and exciters cannot be used due to size constraints. Note: The frequency response is given when used as a bone conducting transducer. This will change when attached to a substrate, and different substrate materials will have different frequency responses. Polarity is indicated by a small half-moon above the positive solder point. Amazing little device. I experimented with this against a variety of surfaces, and was impressed by the output in most of those experiments. Get creative - these are very interesting little devices.

Works great, and has mounting holes for 0-80 screws for those of us who prefer a more solid mount than the peel-n-stick type transducer.

This product worked surprisingly well but it turned out to be surprisingly fragile. It was mounted in a plastic handset housing using some 3M VHB tape. The handset fell on the floor a few times and that was enough to break the wiring bar on the exciter, rendering it completely useless.

I didn't expected to be so tiny

Works well. Its small, so I wouldn't use this as a loud speaker. I attached these to some cardboard slits and placed them on adjacent sides within my pillow case for binaural beat listening at nighttime. It accomplished what I was seeking. They seem well built.. I would not describe them as cheap Chinese junk. I accidentally put 10x the max wattage through these for about 10 seconds and they still function properly.
