I connected this to the sub-woofer output of the amplifier in the Shark Shkbra215-black 300 Watt 100% Marine Waterproof Amp / Speakers Bluetooth Sd Aux Fm w/ Lighted Speakers Black with Lcd Remote (available also on Amazon). I screwed it into the large plastic base for the boat driver's seat (a podium about 4 feet wide by 1 foot tall by 1 foot deep and made out of almost 1/4" thick polyethylene plastic) and used just a dab of clear RTV around the screw to keep it from coming loose. Works great to fill out the bass notes, really helps out the small speakers that come with the Shark stereo set. As a plus, I can "feel" the bass in the seat of my pants, as well as hear it by means of the seat podium acting like a speaker. RECOMMENDED!

I put about 20 of these thing in my house for invisible audio. For sheetrock you need 6x9 plywood rectangles that are in turn screwed tight to the back of the drywall. They work great screwed directly into wood. It depends how big and how thick however. They would be superb on glass, but have a screw mount, so would need to be screwed into wood or similar and glued to the glass.Sound depends upon what it is mounted to. For any thick lumber, bass response is not good. Best to cross over to a sub and let this thing shine where it does best above 120hz. That will also keep it from shaking your light fixtures. You may need multiple units in each location for 1.5" lumber, eg 2x6 t and g. That in turn requires 4 ohm capable amplifiers, unless you wire a pair of pucks in parallel and then wire that pair to another in series to get the set of four back up to eight ohms. Then you need big power to drive it.3/4" spruce is no problem for these. I have seven in a tv room above t and g, and this setup is louder than I would want a kid to listen to at volume of 70, with single pucks in each spot.I think the 50w rms is not a problem esp with bass crossed over to subwoofer. I can see why people say "no good under decking" due to above constraints, but this would be easily overcome with sufficient amplification, subwoofer and enough transducers to keep them within rated power. You will still be miles ahead of regular speaker budget, but you need to be prepared to do testing to optimize placement, number if units and power level requirements. This is all very logical if you consider that you are basically creating a speaker from a variety of surfaces and materials using a common coil and magnet type. You will also want the ability to eq properly to fit your needs. The audessy auto calibration system is pretty cool for this purpose and is built into various amplifiers and receivers. In short, not an audiophile solution, but when employed thoughtfully can generate impressive sound for stereo or mono house music, even at higher sound levels (when enough pucks are used in conjunction with a subwoofer).

Absolutely don't get it. Tried it with two known amps. Three separate recommended mounting locations. Just not very impressed.

I started with qty 4 of the DAEX58 in my V-pin machine. Two of those fell apart - then after replacing those two - another one quit. I then replaced all of those with these HDM-8. Three months now and so far no issues with any of the 4. Save yourself some time and frustration and go with these.

This was a very inexpensive alternative for a panel exciter for vibration testing.

The rear speakers in my Miata are only 4" in diameter and were absolutely horrible. Bought these units to convert a hatch cover into a speaker. Sound is pleasantly good. No buzzing or annoying resonances. Gives wider spectrum response than I could have hoped for.

I can say that I am happy with my purchase. The only reason why I am giving it a four star is because of the lack of mounting options. I got this to make an underwater speaker. The speaker performs well. Then again I'm not expecting an overwhelming sound, but looking for a decent sound. The game changes when you deal with water. I did play with it before I converted to a water speaker. What I noticed was the material you attached it to will greatly affect the sound. The harder the material the less of sound you get out. In order to over come the lack of sound you will start to over power the speaker. The coil will burn out easily because it overheating. It's not like a traditional speaker that uses air to help cool the coil. I love the concept of this speaker. The only suggestions I have is to test it in different places in order to get the best possible sound. And make sure to keep out of the elements, it clams weatherproof but I rather not take the chance. One of the first underwater design didn't hold up well, so I had to buy two new ones. I understand that I wasn't using it for its intended purpose, but like anything electronic keep it dry if you want it to last.

I tried this on various materials and thicknesses and it sounded awful. It may have been caused by the screw not being at a perfect 90 degree angle but it never really felt like it was built to sound good, was hoping to fit concealed in my bathroom for the TV but it wasn’t good enough so was returned.
