A-Class Features

300-803

On the SPA250, the input and output connections are through your choice of either line level RCA connectors, or high-level inputs for maximum compatibility. A stereo input signal is summed to mono and sent to the internal low pass crossover, which is selectable from 40 to 180 Hz; the input gain sensitivity is fully adjustable as well. Also included is a phase reverse switch, which helps you to achieve the best acoustical match with the rest of your speakers. A large surface area heat sink is combined with internal overload, thermal, and short circuit protection so that you can expect years of reliable operation.

1. Low-Level Inputs (Left/Right) - RCA Style jacks that will accept standard line level inputs from a pre-amp level source.

2. Low-Level Outputs (Left/Right) - RCA Style jacks that will pass the line level inputs through

3. High-Level Inputs - Accepts speaker level inputs for connection to amplifiers with no pre-amplified subwoofer output.

4. High-Level Passthrough - allows the speaker level input signal to be passed through to their intended speakers.

5. Power Input - Built-in power cord for connection to 120VAC mains.

6. Volume (Gain) - This control will match the amplifier's input sensitivity to the output of the pre-amp source

7. Frequency (Low-pass crossover) - This sets the highest frequency the subwoofer will reproduce and has a range between 40-180Hz with a slope of 24dB/Oct.

8. Power LED - When the power switch is moved to the “on” position, the LED will illuminate green, and the amp will be in “On” mode. If the protection circuit detects a short circuit or thermal overload the unit will shut down and the LED will turn red

9. Power Switch - On, Off and Auto mode. When the “Auto” position is selected, the amp is in “stand by” mode until an input signal of about 10 mil livolts or greater is detected. The amp will go back to standby mode 10-15 minutes after the input signal stops

10.Phase - This two-position (NOR = 0° phase and REV = 180° phase) switch helps to compensate for differences in the acoustical and electrical characteristics between the subwoofer and the main system speakers.

11. Voltage Selection - Selects 115V or 230V Functionality

12. Amplified Signal Output - Solderless disconnect terminals for driver connection: Red = 0.25" / Black = 0.205".

Well....bought this to replace the amp in my Cambridge Soundworks 12" subwoofer. The original amp never seemed to work properly, and finally died about 3 years ago. Since then I'd been using an old stereo receiver to power the subwoofer. Any way, this Dayton subwoofer amp has exactly the same dimensions as the original amp - including the mounting screw locations! That was admittedly pure luck, but boy, was installation easy! And so far, it's performed flawlessly. It even seems to sound better than the original. It does have more power, so I'm not too surprised about that. It arrived pretty quickly after I ordered it, so I'm one happy camper! I'd definitely recommend this amp to someone looking for a replacement subwoofer plate amp - even if you have to do some trimming to fit your subwoofer enclosure.

Awesome Crisp Clean Power: Dayton Audio SPA 250 - 250 Watt Subwoofer Amp. This unit is used in-line with my REAR ... Speakers 'B' Speaker Wires. Very Simple Set-Up: Speakers L/R Input and Output ... and a Dedicated Single Pair of Speaker Wires [16"] for the Subwoofer Speaker. I am using a Pyle PDIWS28 - Dual 8" In-Wall unit which can Peak at 600-watts ... and Continuous usage @ 300-watts. The SPA250 has GAIN / Frequency Response / and Phase switches - adjustments. The 'Auto on/off switch is left on at all times ... shuts the unit down when power from the Amp is turned off. Very useful feature.A Bass Boost Switch on top --- Selects a bass boost filter with +6dB @ 35Hz. It Allows the user to add boost to the low end response. Nice feature. This unit is designed to fit within a Subwoofer cabinet / enclosure. Mine is built into a Custom Rear [back of family room] Enclosure with L / R Rear Speakers. The Bass resonating from the power of this amp nicely Compliments / Enhances the Front / Main [Bose] Subwoofer. The entire room is literally filled with Music. Front Speakers are positioned lower to the floor ... rear speakers are closer to the ceiling ... total coverage at all volume levels. I chose this unit because my Receiver does not have a Rear or Second Subwoofer connection. This is truly an Awesome Amp ... Simple and Efficient ! Worth the Money -- Excellent Value !

I purchased one and it lasted 2 months, needs lots of room and lots of air. I rebuilt my bandpass keeping the second one separated and it's sounds great. Needs lots of air moving across it to stay cool. Goes into protection easy on slight power draw. Make sure to get the protection plan I learned my lesson. I am using a 250w polk sub in a 4th order bandpass in a ported audio closet , sounds fantastic Hopefully moving the amp out of the box will extend the longevity. I'm very pleased with the performance , durability is questionable

Purchased a high end powered home subwoofer some years ago. After a short time it started making "Barking" noises?! Looked it up, online, and found many reports of bad caps on the amplifier board. Thought I was screwed. Found this on Amazon and figured it was worth a try. The fit was perfect and the sub has performed flawlessly for a couple of years now. It was a lot less expensive option than a new sub. Recommended.

I purchase this unit to replace a busted amp in a Polk audio psw650. All it needed to take this new amp was to widen the existing plate hole by about 3/4" top and bottom. Was able to plug it right in, silicone seal it up and it works great as advertised. Nice that it handles 8 or 4 ohm drivers the same.

Had to reconfigure the hole in the cabinet which took a sabre saw and some glue. Performance is way way better than the polk amp. It is much tighter sounding with way more power and it blends in more seamlessly than it ever did before. It is in a 40'x40' shop with a 16' ceiling backing up 3 sets of classic Advent speakers (2 pairs on tuble amps , one pair on SS amp) and it sounds better than it ever has.If this amp, which weighs way more than the original amp, keeps working as it is now i will continue to be glad i went this route over purchasing a whole new sub.

I ve purchased 2 of these to power klipsch in wall subwoofers in separate sound installations - kitchen and living room. I've spent hours trying to get some at least some appropriate bass response from the subs. I ve connected it all the different possible ways, trying to play with equalizer, settings on the receivers... hopeless... boomy, loose amd absolutely upsetting performance. Then, i decided to give another try. I disconnected amplifier from my old powered yamaha sub and hooked it up to klipsch in wall sub. Ohhh lord. Such a difference! I can hear absolutely beautifull low low low bass, tight and dynamic. I don't have to cranck controls all the way up to squeeze juice from sub having bass setings flat. Works sooooo much better! Now i can def hear what i paid for over $500!DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT FOR INWALL SUB. IT WILL NOT GIVE YOU SATISFACTORY RESULTS! INSTEAD LOOK FOR SOME OTHER SOLUTION: GET A POWERED SUB AND USE ITS AMPLIFIER! OR, IF BUCK DOESNT MATTER GET KLIPSCH. I HAVENT TRIED IT BUT HOPE IT WORKS JUST AS WELL OR BETTER!

The plate amp for my 10” Velodyne sub had a tough time kicking in when there was a signal. I would have to disconnect the RCA and then plug it back in to resuscitate it. It finally got to a point where it didn’t help, plus I don’t have the soldering skills so ended up looking for a replacement plate amp. This fit the bill perfectly, quite literally. It’s exactly the same size as the original amp, and the screw holes even match up perfectly. It was a simple installation involving removing about a dozen screws, and then popping off the amp enclosure. The back of the enclosure required a little persuasion as it was glued to the sub box, but I was able to remove it without too much effort. In all, it took about 10-15 minutes to install, and I have some low end sound again.

Bought in 2021 to replace the amp in a 10 inch sub woofer. Had to return it recently as it created a hum after 1-2 hours of use. The retailer Smoke-Tronics honored the warranty after testing. Sometimes things fail, which is part of life. What impresses me is companies that stand up to their products.

My surround sound setup includes NHT SuperZero, SuperOne and Supersub speakers. I love the clear sound they produce and their piano black finish. I was a bit distressed when my SuperSub developed a loud hum since I knew that it would be costly to replace. I decided to look online to see if I might be able to replace just the amp portion and found the Dayton Audio plate amp series. The size, specs and appearance of the SPA250 looked closest to the original amp in my SuperSub so I ordered one. When it arrived I was surprised to find it is almost identical to the NHT SuperSub amp right down to having the screw-holes in exactly the same position. I didn't examine the internals of either amp but from the exterior they appear to be clones. The SuperSub sounds the same with the new Dayton Audio SPA250 as well. I'm happy to have my SuperSub back in operation in such a seamless way, However due to the failure of my original identical appearing NHT amp I am changing the way that I use it. Previously I left the sub permanently set to "auto-on" even though I used it rarely. It developed a hum even though it was in "sleep" state. It appears that some components are electrified and degrade during "sleep". I still have the sub set to "auto-on" but i is now powered by a circuit that is active only when I'm in the room. I'm hoping that this will extend the life of this replacement.
