Bought this mostly for sun and it’s ok for light drizzle too. I did try taking it in a windy rain storm but it blew inside out. Luckily it’s intact, seems sturdy. I push it inwards against my ribs to close it.

I really like this umbrella. I am Scots-Irish and very fair-skinned and at very high-risk for skin cancer, but I can’t stand sunblock lotion. I live in Las Vegas and used this over our sweltering 115°-for-weeks-on-end summer, and it was actually noticeably cooler under it, and no sunburns or squinting. It is super easy to open/close (my hands are usually full, and I can do it with a single thumb), and it held up really well on some pretty windy days, too. I keep it with me always and use it whenever I am in the sun (or the rain). It did smell a little weird the first couple of uses, but it wasn’t a bad smell (I actually liked it; it reminded me of a toy - a Barbie? - I had as a kid), and it dissipated fairly quickly. I got the flowery one and will be getting more colors later to stash one everywhere. My only complaint is that I had such a hard time smoothing it back down enough after opening it to wrap the strap around it to keep it closed when not in use that I don’t bother and just leave it fluffy, so it would be perfect if that strap were a little longer.

I’ve taken this umbrella several times to Disneyland, it’s nice to not be baking in the sun while waiting in line or walking place to place. It’s compact enough to fit in the bottle pocket of my backpack. The auto close and open function is super convenient especially when you want to quickly store it. I have the one with the flower design on it and every now and then the spokes will get stuck in that frilly bit on the edges when opening, but it takes like 2 seconds to undo it.

The umbrella is well made and sturdy. When it's open, it does measure about 38 inches. The measurement from the inside tip of the umbrella to the handle is somehow too short for me and I'm pretty short as is. Roughly 19 inches and including handle is 21.5 inches. So when holding the umbrella, I have it close to my armpit because that is as far as I can hold without the umbrella hitting my head or hair clips on the inside. In Texas heat, I was still really hot. This might work better on a less sunny or cloudy day, but I can still feel the heat underneath the umbrella. Of course, it would have been hotter without the umbrella. I really need a larger umbrella with thicker fabric. The fabric on this one is thin, but thicker than my regular rain umbrella since it does have a film or coating on the inside of it. I don't know how it works in the rain or wind yet, but it should be ok. This umbrella is probably better for a small kid under 4.5 feet in height if using for sun/heat protection. For me, the 38" diameter didn't cover my lower back or arms enough when standing and I am only 5 feet in height. It covered me well when I was sitting down, but I was still hot. I think this umbrella will work if you are walking in an area that has some shade, tall buildings, clouds or some trees. Out in full sun, it was just not working for me. I was still sweating. I will keep this umbrella since it is well made, light, compact in size and I can still use it for the rain.

Love the pattern on it first off. It is a very well-built umbrella. A little tough to close it back up, but not impossible. Nice cover for it. Fast drying afterwards. So far, pretty windresistent but wasn't outdoors too long. I have no issues with this product and definitely recommend. Money well spent! Thank you.

Bit difficult to close but the automatic opening is excellent. I wouldn't recommend for someone with e.g. arthritus or problems with their wristsWeight - wise quite heavy but this for me, the weight was offset by it's small size; the shade it gave (and also lower temperature experienced whilst under it). Sturdy bit of kit which I paid £8.99 for which overall was great value compared to others for sale at the time.

I bought this umbrella for sun protection, I have had another but it became impossible to put up due to arthritic hands. It seemed a bit fragile but served its purpose.However, this umbrella is much stronger, better quality by far and so quick and easy to use. It is a little stiff to put down but by putting the handle on my stomach and pushing the umbrella towards my body, I had no trouble at all. It fits easily back into it's case, which is very well made. I chose the navy umbrella which looks smart. I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending this product.
