Very nice looking and will make a great addition to the "park scene" in our overall village. These lights are not as fancy as some downtown lights, which is what we wanted. They are fancy enough to use for downtown lights, but also modest enough for a park scene. Like all Dept 56 items they are very nice looking and good quality.

I bought these street lights for my Christmas village, thinking they would be a wonderful homey addition. I encountered problems from the get-go. First of all, it took almost 40 minutes to insert to size C batteries into the battery case. Once I finally got them inserted I breathed a sigh of relief, so I begin to place my street lights. The cord that joins the two lights is so short that’s the only logical and aesthetically pleasing thing you can do is to put them on either side of a building; you can’t put them at both ends of a street. OK, I compromised and put them by the walkway leading up to the church. The last straw, and the reason why I sent them back was because they wouldn’t stand up no matter what I did. They are so light weight and so unsubstantial that not even a nail glue would keep them standing upright. I guess you could lean them against a building but I would only do that if it were a Halloween village. This is not a good purchase for your Christmas village. Bah humbug

Actually, these are less fragile than the Dept. 56 street lights I bought years ago. They put out a nice mount of amber light which would be in keeping of the era.They don’t stand up on their own. The cord weighs them down. Our solution was to decide the placement. Spray a 1/4 inch board white. Then silicone or glue them to the board.It did take some work but they look great in the village! You could probably use double sided tape or glue a small round magnet to the base and set them in something metal. We wanted ours to be more permanent.For us, it was a good buy.

The size is just right for the size of the buildings. The lights do not actually light up the scene, they just add a street lamp-type glow to the overall effect. We really like the extra dimension they add to the village.

Uses ‘C’ batteries, so the pack is bulky for what I was using it for (book nook). The light color is horrible. Pumpkin orange. If you are looking for a soft yellow or even a true icy white, these are not the lamps for you!
