I bought this with the idea that I would capture yeast with this instead of my 2" butterfly valve. I was adding a 1" tube to the butterfly valve when dumping trub and capturing yeast as restricting the flow helps keep the beer in and helps the trub & yeast come out of my conical fermenter. I added this with a 2" to 1.5" reducer however it appears to not let the yeast or trub flow through and just some liquid/beer. When I remove this diaphragm valve there is trub/yeast in the reducer. It doesn't seem that this method works as this must have a very narrow pass-through even when opened at 100%. However I'll probably use this in replacement of my 1.5" butterfly valve at the racking arm, when kegging, as you only want to keg the beer! The piece itself seems very well made and the valve opens/closes as it should. Has good feel to it.

As a homebrewer, I'm always on the lookout for fittings and components to make a brewday go more smoothly. This valve has a very nice pressure rating and integrates well into my existing system

Like everything else I have gotten from DERNORD, this doesn't disappoint.Extremely well made and smooth operation.Being made from 316L Stainless Steel is a bonus. Corrosion will be virtually non existant. This does not come with gaskets or Tri-Clamps so be prepared to get some. They can be found here on Amazon.I am now one piece closer to completing my 'project'.Great product and a good deal. Highly recommended. Glad I got this.

This is not 316L stainless steel. It is nice and shiny but not 316L stainless steel (or even 304 SS) It is magnetic and stainless steel is not.Austenitic stainless steels - the majority of stainless steels falling into this category are non-magnetic due to high levels of austenite. Despite the fact that some of the alloys, such as grades 304 and 316, contain iron, these materials are non-ferromagnetic.
