This is great scale device. Super easy to use. This scaler will help improving your drawings. Great to scale up photo to a canvas or watercolour paper. Outside simple to use for landscapes and improve perspective. The price is great.

By looking at the product photo I assumed it was of a heavier weight than the lesser priced brands. Actually it is very lightweight… which is ok but not the substantial weight I envisioned for this tool. It wouldn’t take much to accidentally break it if stored improperly in a book bag. This issue aside… I think it will be a timesaver when sketching. I can’t deduct a star for my thinking it would be made of heavier wood. Overall I’m pleased with my purchase.

The edges are blunt and dull, cant get delicate measures

If you're a beginner artist, then its sufficient. I got it just to have some idea of proportionality when drawing portraits. Its pretty cheap, but it works. The ends aren't that sharp, so measurements aren't too accurate; you will probably have to eyeball it a bit. One of the largest downfalls, in addition, is that there aren't any numbered scales to how much you're increasing the size. It doesn't say if I'm increasing the original by 2 or 2.5 etc., so, again, you will have to eyeball it. On the other side, it is quite durable; the wood seems strong and the bolt holding the two together is easy to use and goes well with the black coloring. It's really cheap compared to other ones I've seen on the market; many were over $50 for something that looks nice even though it does the same exact thing.

This scale divider is huge 😱. I didn't need one quite as big but when I do decide to draw something larger from a small copy, I am certain this will come in handy.

This is very big and good divider. Shipped in good condition within two days. Since its plastic material it is light weight. The brass pivot fastner holds it the desired scale hole set while you work. With just central cross lines one can transfer the reference picture to paper/canvas scaling it up/down a desired without mesing up with paper. This is must buy for portrait artists. As usin this you dont mess up with reference picture as well as paper/canvas with grid lines.

It feels light and somewhat cheaply made BUT it's PERFECT for an art studio. It's about 13.5" I really like it. It's great for transferring scale from still life object to canvas or paper. There are even instructions on the back of the container describing how to use.

Keep in mind that the real precision-instrument version of this item costs more than $100 (look up proportional divider and find a metal one). This version costs less than $15, and you can tell the difference. This made of two black-painted pieces of wood, each a little more than a foot long, and each carved to a pretty blunt point at each end. Those are held together by a pretty solid and smoothly working brass screw-tightener setup, which fits into a series of notches which sets the proportion you're transferring to. If you have a wood shop, you can probably make a better one yourself, but I don't and can't so I'm a verified purchaser here instead. This item works quite well enough -- with a small hack. Other reviewers have noted that the arms are easily jostled out of position with one another, and mine was like that too. So I put a little rubber gasket on the connecting screw, in between the two arms, and now when I tighten the connector, the arms stay put until I release them. I made my gasket out of a segment of extra-wide rubber band which came from around a bunch of broccoli -- exercise your imagination or just visit the hardware store.

It's OK a bit clunky and a bit thick, would be better if clearly marked delineation between size, only for those of us with less than perfect eye sight. Good weight and price.
