How to gauge wire?
Many people complained that the gauge was not accurate for wire,they made a mistake on how to measure wire.Pls follow the instruction bellow:
1.Pls measure the metal part of the wire,do not include the isulator part,we mean do not include rubber,because the SWG is just about the metal part of wire.
Pls do not use the round hole to measure wire .You have to use the slot to gauge wire or metal.

I started making wire wrapped jewelry and it is perfect for measuring the loose wire I always seem to have around. When watching a tutorial I can make sure I have the correct supplies. This is easy to store and use.

Mine is almost perfect. It has a scratch on one side but that of course won't affect it. This should only be used as a quick guide and seems to be accurate remembering that the slot is where you measure and not the hole. I measured my drill bits using the other side of the gauge. Very accurate for that purpose and was able to correctly size some unmarked drill bits.Remember for stranded wire it won't be as accurate because that wire should be a little thicker than solid. This is for non-ferrous metals.This looks to be laser cut and etched. The numbers a very clear and stand out well.The one thing that I'm not sure about is what standard they use for the wire gauge side. A reviewer pointed out that AWG 16 wire is 0.0508 inch and this gauge reports it as 0.0625 which might explain that all my 16 gauge wire is too small on this gauge. I guess the best way to go about this for complete accuracy is to use a micrometer instead.
